I am a new user of less than a month and want to have imput on if there is a certain mouse that would be better to use for all the editing.

I have used a Kensington track ball, and I am not using a wireless laser mouse that needs replacing.

Your comments would be aprreciated.

Thank you,

Pauline

An optical mouse is much easier than the track ball type which are so stiff and inaccurate. The difference is unbelievable.

I agree with Pauline -- Optical better still a graphics tablet.

Another vote for optical and don't forget the scroll wheel - very handy for changing brush sizes etc. Also go somewhere where you can try them out to get one that feels comfortable in the hand. I have had them that were too big and too small and they were both very awkward to use.

 Well Will I wasn't going to push the tablet, when Joanne was asking about a mouse but of course it is the "best" option.

I go for the wireless optical mouse ...

... but it really does use batteries quite fast :)

Funny, as soon as I saw the subject I wondered who would be the first to say "tablet".
Worked on projects this morning and for the first time thought\, "WISH I had a tablet for this." (Maybe I could get by with a optical mouse?)

I bough the cheapest Logitech optical 2 years ago and it's good as new. I bought the 'corded' version because I have two small children ;)

"Sweety, have you seen my new mouse?"

"I think brother had it. Oh, and I just came from the bathroom, the potty doesn't flush anymore."

Kerriann I can't believe you are not using an optical mouse. It was one of the first things recommended to me. At first boy it was flying all over the place. It didn't take long to get used to. Now I go on the kids computer and curse my "old" mouse which came with my computer back in December. That thing feels next to useless after using an optical. They are pretty cheap to. I only spent $20 Can., and even though I have a tablet I still use the mouse all the time for other stuff. (could use the mouse that came with the tablet, but it's stuck off to the side forgotten about. I just sit my keyboard on top of my tablet for typing.

Yeah Pauline, just never got around to changing. When hubby got a new computer at school he decided to get wireless optical. (as if he'd know the difference) just because it sounded so "uptown".

I wonder if I can use this regular dell mouse on his laptop when I'm troubleshooting it, the touchpad drives me nuts. There'll be my reason for getting myself an optical. No WAIT! I thought I was getting a TABLET!

Now we're watching an auction end for a lens, tomorrow I'm applying for the buy.com credit card and ordering my tablet!!!

That's right Kerriann you get that tablet!! Much better than a mouse..........why waste your money?

Kerri,

Ummm a tablet would be nice but a tablet AND a new wireless optical mouse would be even better :) :) ...

The ordinary mouse should work fine on the laptop ... just plug it in and try it :)

Doesn't the tablet come with a mouse? Is it not as good as a regular mouse? And I think I'd stay with wired, I also have small children! :)

I think I would want to keep a mouse seperate from the tablet for the kids to use. No way are they touching my tablet!!! Bad enough they have to touch my computer since their doorstop downstairs has limited capabilities.

Kerri,

The tablet does come with a mouse ... BUT it isn't one with a wire so maybe the children would take it away with them :(
