Hi everyone - I am still learning PSE 3.0 but having lots of fun experimenting. My plan is to print A3 size scrap book/photo album pages of travel photos and I feel PSE 3.0 is definitely the way to go. I will probably design my pages at 300 pixels per inch although I have read that perhaps 360 pixels per inch would be better for my Epson printer. Most of my photos are 2272 x 1704 pixels. My confusion at the moment is over the best way to make a photo larger on my layout. Is it OK just to drag the photo over onto my background and use the drag handles to make it larger or is it better to resize it first by resampling? Not sure if this makes any difference - would appreciate some advice. Hope to start printing my pages very soon!
With thanks, Catherine.

Hello, looking at your numbers I would suggest using 300 ppi for your pages. Dragging the size images you have to this new scrapbook page will give you good size photos. Yes, if you stretch the image larger on the scrapbook page it will resample the image so basically there would really be no differences between doing it on the page or through the resize dialogue box. What Epson are you printing with ? To be honest I have resampled this way but I have little tricks that work well for my album pages ( my album pages are mostly collage type with different size photos)...I add filters/ effects to the images so it basically prints out more as a creative object than a photograph...so there is room for error (upsampling)...but the naked eye doesn't see it. :) But really tho...your photos are a good size for the 300 document. Adding embellishments to your page will make all the difference !

Thanks Jodi, I will follow your advice. It's great to be able to get help this way! I have an Epson R1800 and am very keen to get my albums started. I love travelling and have always made traditional photo albums of my travels but now I am switching to digital. There are so many possibilities and I am really enjoying learning about PSE 3.0. I also have lots of old 35 mm slides and prints from family holidays from years gone by and I plan to scan these and make an album of past family holidays. It will be like a family history and of course a bit of a laugh as well!
Thanks again, Catherine.

Well you have opened yourself up to a world of unlimited possibilities ! It truly is amazing what you can achieve with Elements. ...It's called 'raising the bar'..problem is....your friends and family wont leave you alone once they realize what you are capable of doing with photos. ...be prepared.....and if it gets to be too much don't be afraid to ask for ink/photo paper money
