I am NEW!!! New to Photoshop Elements and message boards. I am a scrapbooker so I was attracted to your forum. I am having problems figuring out how to do just the basics in PE, so the photos in your galleries are awesome to me. Please give me advice on the best place to start getting familiar with PE. I signed up for the online class and I have even bought the book PE 3.0 Classroom in a Book. It just doesn't seem explicit enough for me. Do I need to be more patient??
All advice is welcome!
Thanks!

starkarlis,

Welcome to the forums :)

The best place to get familiar with PSE3 is here!! The on-line classes are an excellent way of learning. Have you subscribed? You'll get access to the latest video tutorials and the magazine has features like a Beginners Workshop.

There are so many features in PSE3 and so many things you can do with it that knowing where to start with and what can seem daunting. But with practice and patience you will soon the get to know the software.

Also... you can get all the help you want here on the forum. One of the "rules" here is that no question is too simple or dumb.

What do you want to first with Elements?

It seems some of the folks tired of waiting or forgot they indicated an interest in this project. So on we trudge towards the end and 2nd chance before we close out this project. It needs resolution so after giving someone a 2nd chance to participate I'll drop them from the list. Granted there have been circumstances and I understand those situations but some people are not reading the PM or the Thread so I figure they have lost interest.

willpresley
September 30th, 2005, 08:59 PM

Pauline
September 30th, 2005, 10:24 PM

willpresley
September 30th, 2005, 10:37 PM
I've spent some time thinking about future activities of this sort and one idea that seems right to me is to limit the number of participants -- giving each project a code name -- I'm thinking 10 would be the maximum in a group. That will give plenty of room for expression and should accelerate the project completion.

willpresley
October 1st, 2005, 01:06 PM
Mike since it will be like being on a team -- you can work it out with your team mates where your turn will coincide with being home. I think everybody understands that work can take away from play time.

I am enjoying this.

Here is a quick peek (http://home.earthlink.net/~kari1957/PSEScrapbookProject/) for other lurkers. I tried to set them in the order done.

I think on the next project you should start with a set of photos. The current project seems rather sparse in that aspect.

I am sure there are plenty of people on this forum who would donate some photos that they would like to see on a nicely done scrapbook page. And with your new team scheme they would have several variations of the final page. :D

Sherry, thanks so much for those uplifting words but I cannot proceed with a clear mind until I succeed at getting that shot. Super foggy the past few mornings and to be honest by the time the sunsets I'm ready to set as well....I would have to leave my home in the vehicle to find a sunset. The side of the house where the sunsets has alot of tall trees. No chance of getting any sunset shots from home. As far as sunrises i am lucky since I live near a farm that has a very large field...no trees and that is where the sun rises. Just haven't been able to catch any good shots. Almost did last week but was about 38 seconds too late :( Lately my mind has been on getting my kids Halloween costumes made. Started yesterday and hope to be done with them in a couple of weeks. Told myself that I wasn't going to wait t'il the last minute this year. Want to get them done and over with. Ease my mind of one less worry.

I know you have been converting some to jpg.(so you have been peeking) Just a heads up before the final posting ..I just noticed the size dropped from 5.? mb down to 3.? mb.
It might not be a problem but t does seem odd.

Do you have jpgs of the other project? I was looking for them..maybe another link than the download/upload page?

willpresley
October 12th, 2005, 09:03 PM
Well Gary ---- I did have a copy of all the stages up until that murderous free download cut the throat of my computer so completely I had to get divine intervention and still had to rebuild my computer from nothing all over again.

So for this project we lost most of it and what is on the site is all that remains -- so for safe keeping I've left them where they are. But I plan to do a pixentral posting of the final version -- and plan to post it under Pixel Hangout to get more coverage in case people don't get to the scrapbook forum.

I think a part of the change in size is due to whether or not someone has maximize compatibility on/off. I did a 16 mb file and saved without maximize and it reduce the file size by half.

Pardon my typing I'm on a narcotic pain killer so I may not make sense to anyone including myself.

Well in the next set we'll be doing teams and a photo would work good in the new ones -- In this one we really didn't know how much space would be needed. With over 20 participants a photo would have been interesting.

I'm thinking of keeping the teams around 7 people and that will give more leeway for photograph(s) and other embellishments. It'll also take less time to see the results which is as much fun as working on a project with other PSE Users.

You're all welcome, I enjoyed having something to share and that was the web space for the two projects. Unfortunately the beginner one didn't go too well. So anybody have ideas for team names; such as primary colors, secondary colors, greek or latin names, etc.

I'll start a new thread: Team Scrapbooking so we can discuss how to go about this next round.

There are 383 posts to this thead; Wow :P :P :P

I've made a decision to remove all the links to the storage of pictures because someone saw fit to delete all the files -- so in future projeccts the link will be controlled via PM and not make it public. Just a little more work, but worth it to preserve our efforts from some mindless maniac devastating our works of art.

I will never understand the maliciousness of some people. To what point? Where is their thrill?? If one link was deleted, it could be considered an accident by one of the people on the forum but not ALL. :x
