No, unfortunately that came out about 8 months after I got mine. My is 8 MP and seriously it is plenty good enough! (I think that is really bad English!)
You will not be disappointed. Mine was $699. at Costco. I think that was a really good price. Even if you go for the xt, you will not be disappointed. See if you can get a really good price on that!

Thanks Pink!!!
Colleen, my thought process is telling me that if I am going to spend that kind of money on a camera then I should add $200 more to really spend that kind of money on a camera :D

LOL!!! Sounds like a plan to me! Enjoy! There is a part of me that also feels that you should buy the highest quality that you can afford, too!

Who said anything about being able to afford it? LOL!
I told my husband that when I get my new camera, he can't touch it cause it's mine. He said "I let you touch my camera" meaning the Fujifilm finepix we use now. Well, we bought that with OUR money. If I am saving my allowance and extra hard earned $ for this camera then it is MINE LOL. I did tell him that if he wants to contribute HIS birthday money to the camera then that is another story ... Ummm ... Nope, he is not contributing LOL
I just figure it would be worth the extra $200 to get the better of the 2 rather than wanting to upgrade that much more in a couple years.
And I plan on having it by the time we go back to Maine so I can get a few more shots of the Portland Headlight and other points of interest!

Christine:
LOL!!! Keep in mind that spending $200 for top of the line today, doesn't mean you wont want top of the line in 2 years!!!! :D
We go to Maine every summer. Love it. Did you see my Portland Head photo in my gallery??? My favorite photo.

April 11th, 2007, 11:13 AM
Colleen, yes I did ... I think mine is still in my gallery. I remember when you got back from your vacation last summer and posted all those wonderful pictures.
My husband is from Maine and we are due to go back and visit his family. Not this year though, we are visiting mine in Florida and taking the boys to Disney World! Would be nice to have my new camera then .. if not .. my finepix takes pretty good pics for the moment.

That sounds familiar. My Mother in Law is flying down for our son's first communion. We love having them visit, they always bring us Red hotdogs and we are hoping for Fiddle heads this year :D

Happy belated birthday!
Well, you know how I feel about the Rebel. :D I ended up with the 8 MP Rebel XT, but you really can't go wrong with either model, I think. :)

Hi Chris ...
Hmmm .... you know ... I could find something else to spend $200 on :D
I mean .. what is 2 megapixels right? Besides .. I might have enough to get the 8 megapixel one NOW!
Hmmmm ..... rethinking my thought process.

yeah......I bought a $400. lens which I love. Had I spent more for the camera, I couldn't have done that. Someone said once you are over 6 mp it is all overkill. Don't know that that is true, but...... I do know in a couple of years I will probably want to upgrade....not that I SHOULD, but will WANT to!
Fiddle heads???? Not familiar with them! My kids HATE red hot dogs!!! I like 'em though, but like the lobsters a LOT better!

Yeah, I am thinking I may save the $200 .. Thanks so much Colleen! I might not have talked through all this if you hadn't mentioned your camera and Maine and stuff.
Fiddleheads are baby fern found in Maine. Here is the description from the University of Maine
"Fiddleheads are the young coiled fern leaves (about an inch in diameter) of the ostrich fern (Matteuccia struthiopteris). Nearly all ferns have fiddleheads, but those of the ostrich fern are unlike any other.
Fiddleheads are a Maine delicacy that appears in the early spring during April and May. Harvest the tender little rolls of fern almost as soon as they appear within an inch or two of the ground. Carefully brush out and remove the brown scales. Wash and cook the “heads” in a small amount of lightly salted boiling water for ten minutes, or steam for 20 minutes. Serve at once with melted butter. The quicker they are eaten, the more delicate their flavor. They may be served, like asparagus, on toast. Cooked, chilled fiddleheads can be also served as a salad with an onion and vinegar dressing."
YUMMY!
