color profile

Question: My camera is set to Adobe RGB. In setting up color management in PSE I checked "Always Optimize for Printing," yet when I import the photos, the color profile is sRGB and I always have to go to "Image" & check "Apply Adobe RGB Profile." Does anyone know why PSE isn't reading the info from my camera (Nikon D80) in this respect?

I think the camera only applies a color profile when capturing the image in jpg. If you are shooting in RAW it doesn't apply it.

Thanks. I am not shooting RAW. just JPG. Any other ideas?

Susan - you might want to check in Custom Settings that the camera really is set for Adobe RGB. I have a D80 and I have used Abobe RGB (although I've now switched back to sRGB (IIIa) as I like it better) but Elements did recognize it OK and it should show as Abode RGB whichever color settings you use (except No Color Management)
