The description for this course is a little vague. I'm not really interested in scrapbooking, cards, title screens, collages, text. i.e. not the things shown in the Art Effects video, but more in the nature of the Creative Expressions video. In other words enhancing photos in creative ways to maiximize their emotional impact rather than pasting in preset "paint" patterns in clever ways. I hope I don't offend anyone, I'm primarily interested in B & W, shadows and light, kind of thing, Elements is obviously a very flexible program and can serve a variety of of purposes.

Hi- Are you a subscriber? Many of the things you mentioned are covered in tutorials in the subscriber area- lighting, showing off your photos, black and white...

Why not try the "Digital Photography Workflow by Scott Kelby" in the Online Training videos.

Dorrie, have you taken this class? I was wondering what I might learn from it. I have a week left on the Creative Techniques Class (Thank you, Cory. I've really enjoyed it.) I was wondering about Scott's class and Dave's class for portrait retouching.

I am a subscriber, and yes the videos are great, but I still don't have a feel for what this course is about. I'll try a different angle: who would benefit more a landscape photographer or a scrapbooker? I am currently working my way through the layers course, and while it seems like its taking forever t get anywhere I've learned more in a month that I did with PSP in 20 years! So I think the subscribe and training course are well worth the money. I'm just not interested in scrapbooking, my kids are grown, and I'm getting cranky in my old age, and of course on a fixed income!

Steve, there was nothing about highlighting eyes or changing your images to black and white. Truthfully, I feel like I have a pretty good grasp on Elements after hanging out here for a year. That said, I still learned some pretty neat things from Corey's class. There was not really anything related to Scrapping. There were a few images that he put text on but it was to show what the software could do. I guess if you are into Scrapping you could use some of the techniques but I did not find that is what the class was about.
Gradients, Clipping Mask, Text, Brushes....
I was glad I took it. :D

Grammom, yes I have taken all the courses (currently doing Creative Techniques). Each course has something unique in itself. I know I have learned something in each course that I didn't know before. I feel for the price of $19.99 it's a bargain. Remember "Nothing Ventured, Nothing Gained".:)
Steve, I'm glad you enjoy the videos. I agree with Kimi, that the class is not about scrapbooking, but rather the use of the tools, Blending Modes, etc. At least that's what I'm finding so far. I do try to do a little scrapbooking, but I like to enhance photos as well. I guess I just want to learn all I can about this program..and at my age that's harder than you think.:D:D

Thanks, Dorrie. Still haven't decided which one to take next. I'm sure I'll enjoy whichever one I choose.
