Hello,
I have just installed PSE 5 over my old version 4. It installed properly but when iIopened it, it then had to convert all my catalogue, before I could use it. It wont convert! It even says it has, as the progress bar gets to 100% but never disappears. Everytime iIcheck the program is not responding. I've tried 6 times, all the same result. Has this happened to anybody else? Can someone please help???

Hi Mazz ...

... and welcone to the forum :)

Being a Mac user I can't help on this one but I'm sure that one of the Windows users will be along soon and will be able to help you ...

Hi Mazz,

Sorry to hear that you're having trouble.

Did you Recconect and Recover your catalog before starting the conversion? This is generally a good idea in order to ensure that the catalog is in the best possible shape.

If you didn't, open your catalog in PSE4, then use:

- File > Reconnect > All Missing Files (you may not have any files that need a reconnect so don't worry if there are none)
- File > Catalog > Recover (this does a general catalog cleanup and compacting of the catalog)

Close PSE4, and relaunch PSE5 and see what happens.

(I'm assuming you have adequate free hard disc space, and your machine is generally working OK, etc.)

Also, did you disable your anti-virus protection before installing PSE5? Some people have experienced difficulties if they haven't done so. It's generally good practice when installing any app to disable this, and also ensure no other applications are running during the install. If you didn't, then I'd uninstall and reinstall PSE5.

Let us know how you get on,

Nick

Thanks Nick for all your suggestions. I now have my Catalog in version 5. Luckily I di not have to try your suggestions. I got so fed up i just tried one more time, it seemed to be doing everything the same, i didn't even check if the program was not responding and went and watched t.v. About an hour later iI glanced at my computer and VOILA!!! Maybe luck or impatience for the first 6 attempts??? Thankyou anyway.

Probably impatience to be honest! You haven't said how many images you have, but Adobe do warn that this can be a lengthy process.

Anyway, you've got it now!
