Eva, I thought you did a great job of bringing out the dove against a very similarly-colored background! I also really like how the blue in the frame picks up the blue around the eye and in the bird's beak.
Hope you're enjoying that D80! Great shot.

Nancy and Mike,
Thank you both for the compliments. Between the new camera and the 70-300 vr lens, oh what a combo. It was a bit of a challenge shooting a moving bird in a rasberry thicket. The blurred sticks are the cane. I didn't do any editing other than crop and frame. The frame is from Jodi's new CD.:)

Eva - That's really a nice shot! Congratulations on mastering the new equipment. Was that Madison or Iron Mountain??

Thanks Bill,
I'm a long way from mastering the equipment. The berry patch is in the back yard here in Madison. The place up nort is in Ironwood, across the Montreal River from Hurley WI. Not to be confused with Iron River.:D

Dan, Sherry and Jodi,
Thank you all. I took that on Monday, sweet light most of the day. For the last 3 days counting today, it's been thick overcast with rain. Jodi... I didn't have to look hard for the perfect frame. Thank you for the beautiful work you did.:)

Eva,
I get about 6 to 8 doves every morning & eve around the bird feeder. They also usually build a nest right above the kitchen window every year so we get to hear them cooing.

Wendy,
Thank you. I would like to get out and use the camera more, but this heavy overcast is to continue through the weekend. But next week is forcasted to be better.:)
Sherry,
We have several pairs near by along with a pair of cardinals in the spruce next door. Then there are the house and gold finches along with the migrating birds that use the Upper Mississippi Flyway. The International Crane Foundation and Operation Migration has their wooping crane training camp at the Necceda wildlife refuge.:)

Eva,
I miss Cardinals--not on the coast in southern Ca.no robins either. We get sparrows, mockingbirds, wrens, canaries, sometimes orioles, sometimes a Ca. bluejay.
We do see cranes & other water birds, Canadian geese, lots of hawks, seagulls, blackbirds, once in a great while an owl (but not in the yard)

Sherry,
The robins have been here for a few weeks. It sounds like both of us have lots of wet lands near. Madison is on an isthmus between 2 lakes with a small river connecting. Our house is 5 blocks from either lake and 2 from the river. Cars around here will stop to let a mother duck lead her brood to the water.:)
Eva;)
