Hi,
I would purchase the subscription which I think is probably worth it, but I am a student with a newborn child, and I don't think I should be spending the money right now. My question regards the background templates in PE5. If I want to make a background that will always be in the background template section, what do I need to do? Do I have to prepare the image in a certain way and drop it in a certain folder, or do I simply tell PE5 that I want to do this while in the program?

Does the same apply for new brushes and textures?

Thanks
kj

This is the File path to place a picture in Background Template:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users.WINDOWS\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\5.0\Photo Creations\artwork\backgrounds

You may Copy and Paste Picture into this File Path. Make a note of the Dimensions and PPI if you are going to use a Photograph for the Template (so when you open a new document to place the Photo in it will be Proportional) then use these dimensions for new document. Shortcut to get new document: (CTRL+N).
You may use any picture on computer (at least jpgs) just copy and paste.

To Resize pictures: Open PSE5 Editor >Image >Resize >Image Size.
You should ReName this so as not to destroy the original.

Welcome, KJ.

Feel free to ask any questions you have at all. No question is too easy, too dumb, etc. There are lots of friendly people who are more than willing to help.

For Brushes and Textures, I usually use the Present Manager (Edit>Preset Manager) to save ones that I create. Give a holler if you need some tips on how to use this.

Hope you are enjoying school and the newborn! That sounds like a busy, busy time!

Welcome to the fourms.:)

Don't worry about subscribing, there are quite a few people who frequent the forums and are not subscribers... we don't differentiate, and to be honest, unless they say, we don't know. So if you need help with something just ask. If you don't get it .. ask again.:D
