Hi,
I seem to occasionally get a few of these files left around.
Im wondering if its something to do with writing IPTC data to a large amount of files in the organiser and getting the warning that it wont be possible to undo this action (presumably because of the large number of changes).
Anyone have any info about these files, how to stop them appearing, how to get them to clear themselves up ?
Thanks for any insights :-)

Hmm guess it must just be me then, I noticed that someone else asked a similar question:
http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6426
and encountered the same lack of response.
Never mind - maybe I need to contact support.
Thanks anyway.

I know I've never seen those files. I scanned my HD and found none.
My best guess would be that the lack of response indicates this is pervasive.
Sorry for not being able to help.

Hi,
Concerning those _edTMP files. Did you ever get a definitive answer as to what causes them? I discovered I have 3000 of them! I remember recently writing tags to all my 7-8000 files so I wonder if that was in fact the cause.
Anyway I deleted them all in the windows file manager and it doesn't seem to have caused any problems. I make regular PSE5 backups, though of course these _edTMP were not imported to the catalogue. It must be quite a rare problem or that no one else is bothered, as a google search for _edTMP turns up just a few hits.

Hi,
I just came across the same strange duplication of files with the _edTMP at the end. I selected around 700 pictures and wrote the XMP tags into the pictures. I received the message that I did not have enough space to do undo so I choose to continue without the undo feature. After I completed I saw that every file had duplicated with this ending.
I would love to hear why this occurs if someone knows.
Cheers,

I too recently chose to write tags to my files and received the message that I did not have enough space to do undo so I chose to continue without the undo feature. I discovered the _edTMP duplicates doing something else later on and didn't immediately figure it to be related to that action. As a matter of fact, I added the column to say when the files were created in my windows pane and I don't think the date corresponds to the date that I ran my write tags to photo files process. I may have run a backup of the catalog that day though...Hmmmmmm!
Unfortunately I backed up all my folders before realizing that they were twice the size they should have been and so on the backup I can't separate as easily the duplicates for deletion. because they are all created at the same time.
Anyway, I'm amazed at the lack of information about this.

I was just in another thread talking to Kelli about this--I too got thema after the same Organizer/writing to files message. After checking my catalog for errors etc-I deleted them all. (seemly with no problems)
