I understand about saving and loading selections, but is it possible to save a selection, close the program and then reopen the program and still be able to retrieve the selection?
Is it possible to do the same with histories?
I suspect not but I thought I'd ask. Thanks.

Hi Pat ...
Yes it is possible to later reload a saved selection just as long as you save the file as a psd :)
Just make your selection and then do Select>Save Selection ... when you want to use the selection you just do Select>Load Selection.
I';m afraid that its not possible to do the same thing with histories :(

Pat: I guess the answer is yes and no :) Yes a psd file saves any selections you've made so you can load it back up again after you've closed the file but no you can't save histories although I will often save a "snapshot" layer using Ctrl-Shft-Alt-E which represents history up to that point.

Thanks Wendy and Tony; out of curiosity can you save histories in Photoshop?
