I'm certainly not a photography expert, but I really like the lighting in this shot!

Where, exactly, is Smuggler's cove? The name sounds vaguely familiar (but perhaps Smuggler had several coves up and down the coast? :D)

Mike,

This particular "Smugglers Cove" is right outside of Mendocino, CA, on HWY 1. Near a neat Inn called the Brewery Gulch Inn. I know, sounds like something you'd hear about in a bad western, but a neat neat place. Eco salvaged virgin redwood, and craftsman style, with awesome breakfasts!! Fireplaces everywhere, and lots of vino too!

As you can tell from the photo, we had funky weather while there, and although I looked like a soggy, frizzy mess, it provided for some neat lighting.

I also like the lighting and just love the "feel" of the photo. Thanks for pointing it out. It is beautiful.

Thanks, Mary Ann, for explaining and sharing the story. Brewery Gulch Inn--very nice. Anything involving the word "gulch" has to be a winner!

And Kim, sorry for repeating this. Obviously I didn't see Ron's IOW. :o A lot of times I miss those--not enough time in the day...:)

Mike, no apology necessary. It is a great image and deserves all the recognition it gets. We all miss great photos being commented on all the time. I was simply pointing out that it had recieved a well deserved honor previously.
