View Full Version : full screen view question in PSE5

When I am viewing my images in the "full screen view" in the organizer and come to one I wish to edit and quit the full screen view it returns me to the image I started with rather than the one I was just viewing. Thus I have to go looking for the one I was just viewing and it is frustrating. I don't remember that being the case with earlier versions of Elements but I may be wrong. Is there any way I can change this?
Also, the "shadows and highlights" tool is one I use very often. Would Adobe consider including a shortcut in their next version? Or can I manufacture one myself?

That is annoying and it did work the "right" way in PSE3 so I suspect a bug got introduced somewhere along the line that made it stop working the "right" way - unless someone knows of a way to change it. Suggest you file a bug report with Adobe as it probably is a bug and not a missing feature.
As for shortcuts I'm afraid you're stuck with the ones that come with Elements. You need full Photoshop to design your own although it's tough to come up with one for something that isn't in use for something else.

Now I usually select multiple photos before I go in to Full Screen View., I just did that both in PSE 4 and in PSE 5 and in both cases when I exited Full Screen View I had the same photos selected as when I entered Full Screen View. So this seems the same to me.
So next in PSE 4, I selected only 1 photo before going to Full Screen View and then stepped thru several photos in Full Screen View. What I observed when I exited Full Screen View is that in the Organizer thumbnails, the last photo which I had viewed in Full Screen View was the selected photo.
Repeating the scenario of selecting only 1 photo before exiting Full Screen View and then stepping thru several photos in Full Screen View in PSE 5, I did experience the fact that the photo that was selected prior to when I entered Full Screen view is still selected.
I do find it limiting, that when I am in Full Screen view I can MarK a photo for Priniting, but I can not mark a photo for editing.
You can make a Tag for the purpose of designating which photos need to be edited as sort of a workaround. However be aware that Tags are written out to the photo file in the process of opening the file for edit - so that tag will persist in the photo file long after you have completed the edit.
Another workaround, is to use the Show Properties in Full Screen Mode, then look at the File Name of that Photo: then after you exit Full Screen view, look for that file name (on that date if you might have multiple files with the same name).

Thanks for the advice Barb and Tony. I did go to the Adobe forum and found a number of people complaining about the Full Screen View in PSE5 like myself. I did make a wish for future versions to include a keyboard shortcut for the Highlights and Shadows command.
