Hi there ---

I am using frames in 5.0, but it seems that the photo I drag into the frame in editor becomes duller than the original. Note that the "original" photo is actually an edited photo.

Is there a reason for this? Or a work-around?

Also, is there a good tutorial to follow if I wanted to create my own custom frame? Basically, I really like the "snapshot" frame in 5.0 but I'd like to change the frame color from gray to either black or white.

Thanks for your help.

Ryan: Welcome to the forum. My guess is that the duller effect you're seeing is due to a mismatch of colour profiles between the document you have the frame in and the image you're dragging into it although I haven't seen this myself (I tend to do everything in sRGB). Take a look at the color profile of the image and the document with the frame and see what the color profiles are (you can see it in the Info Window if you click on More>Palette Options and check the Document Profile Box).

As to making your own frames you need full Photoshop to do that and there some wondeful ones available (in Jodi's Album Supplies for PSE5). However if you just want to change from gray to black or white you could do that by selecting the frame with the rectangular marquee tool and filling it with black or white - the catch is that you have to simplify the frame layer first. If you know someone who has Photoshop it wouldn't be hard to make your own though. There are instructions available.
