pixellated text

hi guys,

I have PE4.0 for less than 24 hours, so bear with me if this is a dumb question...

I'm making a new banner for my business website - 760px x 150px. It's fairly simple - just a gradient, an image, and the name of the business. My text is coming out very pixellated on the edges. What is the best way to improve the sharpness of the text? Should I start with an image larger than I need then shrink it, or make the image a higher DPI (am currently working at 500dpi), or something completely different?

I want to add some effects to the text but it will look awful if it's not sharp and clean before I start...

I would tend to make the banner large size and then shrink down when it is finished ...
