I'm a new digital scrapper using Photoshop Elements 4.0 with an iMAC Intel Core Duo computer with 2 GB of memory. So far, I have been collecting digital kits and saving them by author. I also created a second filing method with folders for individual kit stuff: Paper (by color), tags, ribbon (by color), brads, etc. I then copied all the individual stuff from the author kits to the second filing system. I use the second filing system with Adobe Bridge to view for example "all pink paper". This works great for me, but I am concerned that there may be a better method. Also, I am probably using up too much space on my hard drive by duplicating the kit elements.

Would it be better for me to delete my second filing system, and learn to properly tag the elements in my kits that are filed by "author". I tried doing this originally but learned that tags could not be included in the metadata for the kits.

I definitely need some help...

Thank you.

Since this system is working for you, what about moving everything to an external HD? That's what I've done and it makes a big difference. I don't have as much ram on my iBook as you do:-)

Have you tried asking this question on this site:

http://scrappersguide.com/forums/

That forum is dedicated to digital scrap booking so I'm sure they have addressed this issue before.

Hi Nina ...

I just realised something ... you can't actually add metadate to some file types so that is the problem you are encountering.

An alternative you could try would be to use a different iPhoto library for them and then create different albums to use by Author and also by Colour. That way the images would only need to be stored once.

Donlt know if it would work or not ... but it may be worth trying (just try out a few kits and see how it goes)
