I am trying to do an incremental backup instead of a complete backup. I have done these in the past. For some reason now it is prompting me for 24 disks - enough for a full backup.

How do I just get it to backup my photos since my last backup?

Thanks!

Incremental backups appear to be a weak spot in PSE. I have so far never seen a satisfactory solution to the problem that you are describing. That's probably why nobody answered the question you had posted yesterday.

In short, I recommend staying away from this procedure. You may want to read through the lengthy thread in the Adobe forum and judge yourself. The one clear point that comes across is that any restore action from your backup set will force you to start over with a new full backup.

Here is the Adobe forum thread:

Thank you so much for getting back to me.

I am actually looking into just getting an external hard drive. I've searched numerous boards and can't seem a find a way to fix this. Your post actually was the most help. NOW I know the problem is in PSE and not me doing something wrong!

Thanks so much!!

Hi ...

... and welcome to the forum :)

External hard drives are just so good and they cut down the time it takes to do a backup dramatically. I changed over to using them a while ago and have never regretted it ... and now that the prices have dropped it makes them even more worthwhile ...

I have 2 external hard drives and they work great especially with photo editing. It frees up space on your internal h/d. Very easy to access and very reliable.

With external HD prices as they are nowadays, I really wouldn't recommend backing up to optical media to be honest.

It's too much hassle, and I don't have a great deal of faith that the data will be readable if and when I ever need to restore.

(I simply find writing optical disks for whatever purpose to be too failure prone a process to rely on, despite using high quality drives and discs.)
