Organizing digital elements...please comment

I'm a new digital scrapper using Photoshop Elements 4.0 with an iMAC Intel Core Duo computer with 2 GB of memory. So far, I have been collecting digital kits and saving them by author. I also created a second filing method with folders for individual kit stuff: Paper (by color), tags, ribbon (by color), brads, etc. I then copied all the individual stuff from the author kits to the second filing system. I use the second filing system with Adobe Bridge to view for example "all pink paper". This works great for me, but I am concerned that there may be a better method. Also, I am probably using up too much space on my hard drive by duplicating the kit elements.

Would it be better for me to delete my second filing system, and learn to properly tag the elements in my kits that are filed by "author". I tried doing this originally but learned that tags could not be included in the metadata for the kits.

I definitely need some help...

... and welcome to the forum :)

Really its case of doing what works best for you but I wouldn't duplicate all the items that way ... you should be able to use tags (but its not something I use so hopefully one of the others will be able to help with that)

Thanks for your response. I 'm hoping that someone will provide the "how to" information so that I can tag my digital kits and be able to view them based upon "file selection" using Adobe Bridge.
