How to get a safety pin to look right

Hi-
I'm trying to use a cute safety pin on my grandson's layout and everytime I do it I don't like the way it looks. I'm using the eraser. Is there some kind of trick to this?

Hi Patty ...

Either use and eraser or a mask (from one of the tools sets like Grants) but to add to the realism you need to add shading to the paper it is "pinned" though :)
