A sure sign of spring in this area - the Tundra Swans making a brief stopover on their migration from Chespeake Bay to Alaska. Amazing sight, thousands of them and what a noise they make. Got 1GB of pictures. Now got to figure out what to do with them all :) . Here's one (actually a combo of two - just couldn't get ones on the ground and an overhead flight in the same picture so had to fake it).

...had to fake it...Nicely faked, Tony!!

When Nature comes in an extra-large dose, like that, it can be quite a thrill.

LOL, Tony! I can tell things are warming up when the Tundras and Trumpeters LEAVE our neck of the woods for parts north and beyond. We have a fairly large population that winters just a mile or so away, munching in the valley farmland. About this time of year, they all take wing and leave. March 1st was the last flocks I saw down there.

I've always wanted to shot some pictures, but don't have a camera with that type of zoom capabilities...yet...I'm getting closer...:)

I also would have had NO CLUE it was two if you
hadn't mentioned it.

YEAH SPRING! WAHOO!!!!!
I'm so ready for spring!
We have been in 70's past two days and they
are saying that S word for the weekend.
SNOW! WHAAAAAAAAA!
S should stand for SUNSHINE all the time!

Well, we have the AC on so it is time.

I agree w/everyone else, great shot(s). Spring is arriving in Georgia also. Wish I had a better camera to capture all the great spring blooms and birds. I will try with my little Kodax to get a fairly decent shot. Thanks for posting your picture.

Just an echo to say what a wonderful shot that is Tony : rather than faked isn't the word enhanced?

Tony, great shot! You might want to go out there and tell them they should tarry in Ontario for a bit....it's way too cold and windy for them here in Alaska!

Wow! Great shot(s)! That is so beautiful!

We used to get big groups of Canada geese and hoards of various ducks on our little pond in Oregon. It was such a wonderful sight to see. Some of them even waddled up the hill when they discovered we had corn out for the quail!

The Tundra Swans always stop at a place called Reiks Lake which is about 80 miles down the road from me in Wisconsin. They rest and feed there until it freezes over and then they head to the East coast where they winter. It is always a thrill to see these magnificent birds and it is equally thrilling to know they made it back to Alaska.
