Saturday was "Backstage at the Zoo". We were allowed into many areas usually closed to the public. Not wandering around - closely guided by zoo staff. It seems that a Wisconsin Wild Turkey, now "Bob" by name, discovered the easy food opportunities at the zoo. Bob has taken up permanent residence in the Moose Yard.
The zoo staff thinks Bob is a pretty cool guy and they now treat and care for him "just like a regular zoo animal". I laughed out loud when I saw this sign in the food prep area. I just had to share this.

Rusty, that is funny. I love the zoo. The animals have their own personalities and not afraid to show it.

Thanks Rusty!
We have a flock of turkeys near the house including a big male. Have been trying to photo but not gotten close enough.

Bob has found a home, for sure!!
I also think it's great that they have on hand a spare set of moose antlers...

Rusty,
Sounds like that was a great day at the zoo. Bob's seems to have captured the hearts of those at the zoo and has a special place of honor. Thanks for posting it.

Hmmm.... wonder if "Bob" is related some way to "Rocky" the stray Rhode Island Red rooster that has taken up residence on my front porch. He taps on the dining room window and crows at us if we don't throw him a handful of scratch at first light. Spoiled roo! Plan to get him some hens in a few weeks. Bet "Bob" would like some ladies too... wonder what the instructions will be for that. ;)
