Bill,

I am flabbergasted that you would go to the trouble of backing over a drinking fountain just to give us a starter image for this challenge... THAT is going above and beyond!!! :p

I can think of several things that are broken but you can't see a degenerated spine and seeing as we are moving, I thrown all the other broken things out :D

Open up some more boxes. You are bound to find a few busted things in there.:D

Suzi - Thanks for getting us started. If Cody is 14 is sounds like he made a very nice recovery. Nice picture picture.

Russ - I like both your entries and I agree ... an empty beer can is definitely a broken beer can.

Byron - Your wife is right .... it's your fault.;) Nice shot!

Thanks Bill, I used Matt instructions from his book on taking a picture of a picture.

Russ, I like both of yours but the second one best.

Bryon, You know us wives are always right, lol. Good picture.

The week is still young, but we've already got some good images of mayhem going, here...

Suzi - that poor pooch... It looks like he can barely gnaw his bone!

Ross - That's one corroded hydrant. That chain has seen better days, too.

Ellen - It didn't freeze, did it? What's holding up that half of it?

Tony,

At first glance, I though this was a page from "The Maritime Cookbook". I was thinking "Wow! I didn't know they feed sailors the shells, too!!"

Then I looked closer. :p

It's a great shot, but I think you might be in trouble for getting egg goo all over the recipe...

Tony... not fair! I should have thought of that.

can I copy Tony's?????

I can see, I'm gonna have to break something. :o

Byron: I didn't notice I'd spilled it until I came to clean up. Oops - but it's a rarely used cook book and that recipe has never been tried nor likely ever will :D .

BTW that was with my $100 50mm f1.8 Nikkor prime - great lens for shooting stuff on the kitchen floor with just natural light from the window.

Lots of fun ones again. Maybe we should all follow Rita and break something we dislike.
Nice to have you here Sherry, Sheridan does indeed look broken hearted.
Tony- Marmite and deep fried eggs
Byron -a tree fell on my pot and I was trying to dry it off to try to glue it back together.

With a new camera and a wild week at work I got waaaaay distracted ... now where was I?? Oh yeah .....

Rusty - Nice montage ... looks like you're having a winter that won't quit. If you need another shot, head over to Kopps and have them sprinkle some 'broken' peanut brittle over a dish of frozen custard. :D

Tony - Very nice crisp image, and a clever idea.

Suzi - Another very nice shot. Nice, sharp detail.

Rita - Glad I could help:) . Nice shot!

Sherry - First of all, Welcome to the forum!!!! Hope you enjoy. Secondly thanks for choosing the photo theme to get your feet wet. Those are both nice photos .... and it looks like Sheridan has that look perfected!! Hope to see more of your work.

Robyn - Yikes!! Nice action shot ... hope by now it's turning back into a usable drive.

Pat - What a great shot. I really like the white of the birch trees against the dark building. Great colors and contrast.

Debra - Yeah, your right, stop the flooding first and take the photo later. Nice photo and very interesting subject matter.

Tony - Nice collage ... lots of qualifying broken stuff.

Steven - What a collection! (There's that word again ;) .) I think my favorite is the caboose phone. Nicely done.

Lots of good images this week .... and there sure is a lot going on down in this part of the forum these days!! Lots of fun .... keep the entries coming.

Welcome Sherry... :D Poor thing, she does look broken hearted.

Gary, did you hang him on the wall for the photo or does he still hang on the wall?

GaryK
March 17th, 2007, 06:35 PM
Kimi

always hangs there.:D

After I took the photo I realized his wife was broken a bit too.

Made of bread dough, so maybe I had some mice.

Sherry

Welcome.... she does look broken hearted.:(

Kimi

It is for sure.

Heck it was 10 years ago.. but all this stuff will come back into style.:D

TonyW

Gary: We had one of those bread dough things but it turned green and grew mould so the wife insisted it went.

Bill: Also had one of those come-alongs. That broke too and is probably still lying in the bush where it broke. Maybe a few hundred years from now some archeologist will unearth it and decide it was something 20th century males used to hold their trousers up :D

Thanks for the comments - you're right this Challenge area is getting busy but I do enjoy the excuse to get out every week and learn some more about the camera. And I think I've learnt something new about it every week recently.

Good shot Nancy ... the fix sounds quite a bit like turning the soiled side of the cushions down.

March 17th, 2007, 09:34 PM
Thanks Bill. Yep - works the same! We have company side of the cushion and regular dog side of the cushion. :D

Gary - my bread dough guy was missing a leg - but it was because the dog ate it.

Did you ever figure out what that thing was Bill?

billz
March 17th, 2007, 10:11 PM
Nancy - Both Gary and Tony referred to it as a come-along. Some sort of a strappy thing to pull other things I guess.

Too bad cushions only have two sides isn't it?

Bill. my husband used to use devices like that when he was in the air force. they were used to tighten down cargo straps. kind of like a ratchet thingy.

There is supposed to be a longer strap on the other end.

It works kind of like a winch... you hook the short end (shown in the picture) to whatever, hook the missing end to something else and crank the handle. It is ratcheted so as you tighten it doesn't slip back.

Nancy- The shade looks fine; who wants people looking at the backside anyway? If I stumble across one I will surely send it your way.

My old Window base computer met it's maker today. A screwdriver and a hammer took out the hard drive, then all the smashed guts were encased in the cover for eventual recycling. I'll try and find a home for the monitor (hardly used) but no one seems to want a CRT any more.
