HI! Everyone,

I resently asked people on the forum how to fix a scratches and over exposure and got some advise but, could not use program correctly is there help for a biginer like me? :? Is there aney free tutorials?

Sorry that we didn't help you enough with your last post... :oops: We will give you as much help as you want on this forum. Let's deal with these two areas separately... :wink: :)

I would probably remove scratches using either the clone tool or the healing brush (or a combination of both) depending on the image and the scratch etc. There is a free healing brush tutorial on this site http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com/videotips

If you post the image I will be glad to help you further by talking through what tools to use and how to use them.

To fix overexposure, the first thing I would do is look at the histogram in Levels. I explain how to interpret the histogram and over / under exposure in a couple of replies in this thread http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2876&highlight=.

To fix the overexposure, go to the layers palette and click on the Create Adjustment Layer icon shown in the link below:

Then select Levels from the menu:

When the Levels dialog box appears, look at the histogram. Yours may appear something like this:

If the photo is overexposed, the left hand point of the histogram will probably start well in from the left hand slider that I have circled in red. The first adjustment is to drag this slider until it meets the start of the histogram.

There are a number of free tutorials on this site, or you can also do an internet search for more..(most that turn up will be for photoshop, but a lot of them translate well :lol: )

There is a subscriber area here which gives you a lot more tutorials and videos as well as a newsletter mailed to your door (all just for Elements). It's not free, but I think anybody here who is a subscriber, will tell you, it is worth it.

Post your picture as Mike suggested above. I'm sure that he, or someone else will be able to help you. Don't get discouraged. There is a lot to learn and lots of different ways to do things with Elements

Hi Gary,

I down loaded quick time player as I was asked to when I attempted to use the tutorial you or Mike or suggested then I went back to the tutorial to use it but there was no action just a still picture. I thought a vidio should be moving? I think I sent you a picture but, I will try again, thanks for your support. Maby I need online trining? From this reply screen I don't know how to send a picture I will try a nother way.

Most of the tutorials are pretty big... 6 or 7 meg (or more). They can take a few minutes to download with high speed. The movie won't start until it is done. Watch the bar across the bottom for progress (it doesn't say progress though) :D

Don't worry about asking questions, we will all do our best to help. It is vacation time though (yipeee) so some replies may take a few days.
