What is this - who's proprietary format is it?
Is it transparent, like a png?
Is it compatible with Elements 4.0

Its a Windows Metafile Format.
It contains vector and bitmap drawings for Windows but I don't see it on the Elements list

Its not in Photoshop either ..
It maybe worth checking out Irfanview ... Ah I just checked and it looks like it does support it. :)

There's a plugin for Windows to open these files :
http://www.abac.edu/download/HPSJ5100C/Adobe/English/Install/PLUG-INS/WMFFORMA.8BI
Then, follow this other thread where I explained how to install and use it.

Hope this helps,

I believe WMF is Microsoft's "answer" to the PDF format.
Wrong answer.......!

I was on a scrapbooking website and all her collections were wmf and since she didn't have a sample download, I passed.
I'm not interested in putting anymore "stuff to read stuff" onto my computer. I already can't get Quicktime to work and Adobe Reader likes to come and go as it pleases. LOL
I love my pngs and that's all there is to it.
Thanks for the info, guys. wmf was a new one for me.

You can also get the plug-in from this post:
http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com/forum/showpost.php?p=188687&postcount=25
Just click on the zip file to download (and then you can get lots of clip art from the Microsoft site.)

I wonder why this "new to the field graphics" designer would choose wmf as her format of choice? I could understand if she had been designing for 17 years in this format, but her website said she was just starting out. Strikes me as strange.
Thanks for all your help. It wasn't much of an issue for me because I had already decided to pass on her stuff, but I did want to learn about wmf's - just because I like to learn. Guess, I could've googled it - but you guys are more fun.
Thanks.

Hi Janice ...
It does seem very strange ... I bet she gets lots of queries about how to open the kits :D :D
