I was all prepared for another video montage of images from Iraq. This was simply delightful! Thank you so much for sharing it. It is sad there are so few of these fantastic vets still around. A great tribute!

Nancy and Russ,
I'm worried about my oldest niece, Abby. She is an Army drill sargent in the Reserves and has been notified that she is on stand by. Her husband is in the Air Force and they are both Stationed in Oklahoma. The video is a great tribute.

I'm glad you enjoyed them. My oldest son fought in the first Gulf War, I was scared the entire time he was over there.

I get these things from time to time from the retired firefighter group that I belong to. I'll keep passing them along.

Thanks Russ. I've seen so many on Iraq and really didn't want to confront that now with Travis leaving in 8 days.

Eva, I'll keep my fingers crossed she doesn't get called back up. Travis was on reserve for 3 years after he left the army. He made it 18 months before he got the call.

Great video, thanks for sharing it Russ. It brings back memories that no matter what branch you served in we are all brothers.

I applaud the soldiers, I turn my back on the politicians.
As a Brit living in Europe I live in a place that has had armies wandering over it and battles fought for centuries. The last notable one was battle of the Bulge followed by the crossing of the Moselle and a two week battle around Nennig, hardly ever mentioned but vicious nevertheless. It was the second and possibly most significant breach of the Siegfried Line (WestWalle).
My wife is German, her Grandfather, Martin, just died, a fine old German soldier. It turns out that he fought for the Germans at Normandy, where one of my Uncles died and another delivered soldiers to the beaches.
What people forget, although it is manifest in Iraq, is that war causes far more civilian casualties, around three to one, I believe.
I have had enough of war, the politicians that lead us into it and the flag waving that supports it. Eventually it comes down to sensible people sitting around a table and coming to an agreement.
Just close to here we have two cemeteries one American, one German. In the German Cemetry there are boys as young as 14. Just over the border in France is Verdun. In WW1 one million men, French and German, were killed on the bluffs over the town fighting for inches of mud over, I think, an eighteen month period.
We are not interested in War here any more.

BonzoDog,
Thanks for a great perspective. Reading your post caused many, many thoughts to flow. I've visited Verdun and many other cemeteries where the valient are buried. I always walk away somber and sobered. If we could just get the rest of the world to not be interested anymore in war.

A firefighter I used to work with sent it to me. I enjoyed it and I hoped you all would too. I'm very happy that you did. Russ
