Well after months of deliberation, I bit the bullet today and purchased a new lens. I bought the Canon 70-200mm f/4L IS. I even had to buy a new camera bag............it wouldn't fit in the old one! :D

Congratulations, Robyn! I'm sure you're going to love it. I bought the non-IS and I love mine, but I'm sure the IS would make me love it even more.

I recently also bought that lens. In addition, I had to buy a new camera, canon xtig to go with it. Also, I bought the 1.4x extender. My old camera bad would not do, so a new bag was a must. And there you going down the $$ trail. Will it ever stop. There is alway another lens or filter to buy. I'm going to stop reading camera magazines.

The Canon 70-200IS lens has been written up recently as Canon's best zoom lens and that says allot. In addition to the addition of IS they reworked a whole set of elements making this lens sharper then the 70-200 non IS lens

Robyn, keep your tripod handy. I love my lens but get best results with the tripod

BUT....remember the sage advice here (from Lee, I believe) to turn off IS when using the tripod!!

Nope - full auto. Just shot, uploaded and done! I did get out to take some shots today but haven't had time to look at them.

Thanks Kim and Eva. I was very pleased with the results.
