PSE 3.0 had a puzzle texture in the Texture Drop down window. Anyone know if this filter is available in 5.0?

Hi Ron,
I went from 3.0 to 5.0 and have found some of the filters and effects are different. I never really liked that puzzle texture anyway. Panos has a great free action for Elements. You can even separate the pieces, if you like.

Here is an image I used Panos' action on:

It's still there, only you need to load it. Click on the little triangle to the right where it lists the textures (in that filter screen), then load. Browse to :
C:/PROGRAM FILES/ADOBE/PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS 5.0/PRESETS/TEXTURES
Look for a file named puzzle.psd
Hope this helps!

I agree with Diana, Pano's has a great puzzle you can download, very easy to use and download.

Hi Ron,
I've used it in 4 and it is incredible. Just installed PSE5 today but haven't added anything to it yet. Getting late, so I'll be trying tomorrow.

In the Texturizer filter screen, click on the little triangle next to the current texture :

Under the Presets Folder, look for Textures (in the Photoshop Elements 5 program folder) :

You don't want to go into Documents and Settings. Go to C:...Program Files...Adobe...Photoshop Elements 5...Presets...Textures and you will find it there. :)

This forum is wonderful! I learn a lot from other people's questions (like this one) that I didn't know enough about to ask a question! Did that make any sense? Anyway, people, your questions help people like me who don't even realize there's a question to ask. I had no idea there were already all those other textures for the picking!

Jo: You're not even limited by those textures. Anything can be used as a texture - you just have to save it as a psd file (with the maximize PSD file compatability turned on in Preferences). The effect it has will depend on what the image looks like in black and white. You can create some interesting effects using your own pictures or patterns you create as textures.

Tony, I've done that -- creating my own textures -- but didn't know about the other "canned" ones. So much to learn!

Jo, your statement makes perfect sense to me! I'm with you. Sometimes I just read and save stuff, so maybe at a later time...it will click. Then I have to find it:eek:
Half the time I ask privately, because I hate to announce 'out loud' where I am confused. And thanks to those who always help me that way too!!
