Well, Kimi,
As usual, I'm a bit thick with the directions.
My layers don't seem to come up in the same sequence as the instructions. More important, I'm getting a vivid, harsh light rather than "Dreamy". Any ideas as to where I'm going off track?

As I've said before, I sure am glad you don't grade this. But, I fear it goes in my permanent record! :D

Rusty,
I think I can see where you are going wrong. I think on the 5th instruction you aren't selecting the right layer to desturate. You need to select the lower layer, desaturate it & then copy it twice more. Here's what my layer palette looks like at the end of #6:

Compare it to yours & you'll see the difference, Hope this helps.

Kimi,
I just found the new "homework" this morning and won't be able to try it until probably Sunday.:( I have to work on Saturday this week, that will definitely cut down on my time to play!
Thank you for challenging us to try something new each week!:) I've also enjoyed seeing the new posts to the "old" homework!

Thanks Kim, look forward to your image. :)
When you go to the tut she has a link somewhere in there for her grunge border. It is a free download. If you would like it. Here is the link.

Mike, All of your work is so good. Love how you found her grunge border.
Byron...:D That has to be the sweetest thing I have ever seen!! Is it you?
Well, that sure brought a smile to my face first thing this morning. :D
Bill, Very Nice!

...Byron...Is it you?...Kimi,
Yes!! :D
My folks dug this out of the archives while preparing for their 50th anniversary celebration. I was about one year old.
The original is a slide (attached), which has turned BLUE over the years -- I have not done the greatest job color-correcting it, yet, so it was the perfect candidate for this "faded color" challenge!

Nancy, I think we were posting our images at the same time. ;)
I used a portrait image also, I think it would work better on a different type of image. Like Bill's car. I will have to look for something else. :D

You're right - but you were on pixentral first because I saw your image at the bottom of the screen.
Really nice job on the new ones everyone. The re-enactors one gives me an idea. Back in a bit!:D

Thank you, Bayla,
I understand now; looking at your example, and rereading the instructions, I can even see where I got off track :)

Thanks so much for the kind words, Kimi. Coming from a real artist like you (seen your gallery), it means alot.
Here's a link to the nail brushes. http://www.photoshopbrushes.com/brushes/17.htm I think you'll like many of his brush sets.........yes, I'm already hooked on brushes and I never even used them on Elements 2. See what you guys have taught me.

That nail is a brush! :D :D Hot doggy!!
That is the beauty of having your brushes in a separate file. You can have as many as you want. (and I am out to prove it)
Thanks so much for the link! ;)
don't give me too much credit... I have only had Elements a year. I asked for it on my birthday which in next week. it will be my 1 year anniversary!

Rusty,
Glad you worked it out. Nice image. I've done it about eight times now on different images....took me a while to get all my layers sorted, believe me. It helped to name them as I went along.

Joann, glad you came to play. :D What a nice picture. He is a cutie and the view is fantastic.
If you want the thumbnail to show from Pixentral all you have to do is look under the image after it has uploaded. There are two url addresses. Copy the one that says forum and then paste the entire address in your post. It will turn into a thumbnail. :)
Glad you managed the grunge border!!

That is my little boy about 1 year ago. He's turning 4 in 2 weeks (can't believe it.) I am very blessed that the view is my back yard!
Thanks for the info on the forum link. I'll try it next time.

I tried to edit my post to show the thumbnail but it did not work. Not sure what I am doing wrong. Do I need to click on the insert image link in the post or do I just copy the link from pixentral and paste it into the post.

Joann.. all you do is highlight the address Ctrl C and then Ctrl V into your post. don't do anything to do with inserting an image. :)

Tony, I think we should call yours... Sunset. :D
Andie, just who does Miss Shayla Grace belong too? She is such a cutie!
Gary, love your 3 girls.
Pink, great job. Looks like the Taco Bell doggie.
Carol, what a dramatic feel yours has. I think it may work better on things than people. It tends to really was out skin tones.
Kim, cute nieces. The hearts are a nice touch.
