Okay, so you've been using Photoshop Elements 3 for a while, and you probably already have some ideas for what you'd like to see in the next version.

So, post 'em here. We can't promise anything of course, by Adobe does ask for our suggestions now & then...

Actions and the ability to record them. As someone who shoots several hundred images at a time needs to be able to apply changes across the board. I can live without a lot of things but Actions would really make this program a must have for serious editors.

Would like to see the mask command in ps 4.
This is my first post so if I did it wrong please let me know.

I got a freebie add-on link for quickmasks, curves etc...

Do you want it ?

I too shoot a lot of photos, high school sports, and would benefit from the ability to write scripts like I can with Paint Shop Pro. I do this for the kids, no charge, and am limited in just how much time I can spend on them. To ensure I get everybody on the team(s) I take a lot of shots and have a lot of media to work with. Since the game shots are all during a particular timeframe, the color adjustments and light fixes are typically the same or very close - but seldom met by the default auto-fixes.

Scripting is the one thing that took me to PSP and the one thing that might just take me back :-) I like PE3 better but...

...I don't want ANYTHING else. Geez. Come on Adobe, stop the madness :-)

When I bought PE3, that was all I wanted. I didn't want Album, period. I had the 2.0 version and didn't like it. Forcing me to load it when I load PE3 is NOT making me a happy customer.

You're instead, eating up MY resources and making PE3 run slower than it needs to. 'nuff said.

I feel your pain, i do, really i do... :|

I don't hate the organizer...would have been nice to keep it away from my editor tho. The program could have them both...but seperated...users choice to install or not...but put the picture package, contact sheet ...+ back into the editor.

how's that sound ?

Why is 6x4 a preset but not 4x6? When cropping a bunch of photos for 4x6 printing I often find some I would rather crop 6x4. Now, I have to manually plug those numbers in.

Why can't I set the compression quality once and have it stay that way? When I pick 4x6 and 220ppi, PSE3 assumes I will want to save each and every file at a high compression level. I don't. Let me chose not only when doing the editing of photos but as an overall default as well. Gary

Select 6x4 from the presets and then click the double arrows between width and height and it automaticl switches to 4x6. Oh yes is is a toggle so will swithc back.

...but, it's still click, click, click, click, click... :D

Would have never thought I'd have to read the help to be able to use a drop down list :-)

My wish is that I could pre-populate the drop down list - configure it to MY workstyle. When I'm going through a couple hundred photos, every click is another wrist twinge after awhile :-)

Good info though Grant and I thank you.

Where is the double arrow that you mention to switch to landscape or portrait. I don't seem to find it in standard editor.

In Elements 3 they appear in both the standard and the quick editors. When the crop tool is activated you will find then on the option menu. They appear between the Width and Height value boxes.

Jody,

I was never able to get shipley's stuff to run. I use Hidden Power to get Curves, Layer Masks, and channels. There's a lot of other stuff too. See:
http://hiddenelements.com

Waiting for the author to update that site already for PE3!

Seems many people can't get Shipley's to run at first. The trick seem to be to blow away your prefrences and then they should work.

Channel Mixer would be nice. No other satisfactory way to convert colour to black and white, or at least, if there is I haven't found it yet.

Trudy,

Welcome to the Forum!! :)

Using a Hue / Saturation Adjustment Layer is an effective way...

Click on the Create Adjustment Layer option in the layers palette (it's a circle half black & half white). From the menu, choose Hue/Saturation.

When the Hue / Saturation dialogue box comes up, move the Saturation slider all the way to the left.

This will remove the colour and turn your photo black & white... :)

From here there are effects you can create using levels.

I would like to be able to define a box or shape that I want to fill with text. I want the text I type to automatically wrap and change the font size to fill the box/shape.

Hi,

Fixing the crop tool bugs and the bugs in Organizer would be a start.
There I go being idealistic again.

I would also like to be able to use actions or (scripts) as in Paint shop pro.
I'm useing the trial ver. of PSE 3 and really like it but.... sure would miss the scripts in PSP. They are really handy. Can't decide which to keep : (

A good blend tool that you can press alt like the healing brush but do big spots and blend them so they come together as one!

A quote from Scott Kelby on this matter :
(from his review here, on PET : http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com/learningcenter/pse-tenthings.php)

(9) They killed the File Browser. This is good.
They did this for you. Really. Having both the Photo Organizer and the File Browser created massive confusion among users. Nobody seemed to know which method of sorting images was the right one, and sadly some people used both. Now, Adobe has made everyone’s life easier by making the choice for you, and they made the right choice by choosing to keep the Photo Organizer, and killing the outdated File Browser. If you were using the File Browser, don’t mourn its loss, you’ve got to move on with your sorting and cataloging life, and the Photo Organizer will soon become like a long lost friend.

I can't say anything because I'm on a Mac, and we didn't get PSE4 for Mac. Yet.
