Really getting anoyed tonight. Many, many pictures that I have opened tonight have all started with the "searching for missing file dialog". Most have been okay but some do not open. When I go to check the actual folder that contains those pictures they are still there. I am really confused over this because I have not deleted any pictures from the organizer lately. Any suggestions for this problem? Thank you

Hey Bob,

Not sure that I have a good answer for you. Did any of the file extensions change at all? Even if a space is added the organizer cannot find them. I personally do not use it, because I had to many issues with missing files and trying to reconnect the links. It is really annoying. Now I just have a super in depth file system in my pictures, and then I archive them after a year. Of course backing up with disks along the way.

Sorry I am not more help.

Bob....

Try doing a Catalog recovery - File > Catalog > Recover.

No guarantees, but it may just help.

Bob, hope you get it figured out. Ange is right, if you move the file or change the name of the file from filename.psd to filename.jpeg the .psd filename will not show up in the browser but when you rename you should have gotten a message if want to add filename to the browser.

Is there a way to completely remover all photos from the organizer and start over, as if it was the first time opening it. Mine is a complete "unorganized" MESS. I really don't use it that much at all, I store photos in different folders in my pictures and I do move them around also. I really would like to clear out the organizer made folders and all! That way I could possible start over and be a little more organized. Using elements 4

Jancy....

It may help other folks if you post this as a new topic rather than tag on the end of another one but not to worry :)

If you just want to start again from scratch and aren't bothered about anything in your current catalog you have a couple of options but best thing first with any operation like this is to take a backup first.

1. Select All your images in the Organiser and then Delete them. Make sure you only delete them from the Organiser and NOT from the Hard Drive.

Then re-import them. You may get a pop-up window indicating that some of your images have Tags/Keywords applied. You can then choose to use these or not.

2. Just create a new catalog - File > Catalog > New.

Then re-import all you images into that.

I really have no idea why this is happening. I leave the file names the same and always work on a duplicate image when editing and then save the duplicate. I have never had this problem. I really never use the organizer much anyway. I am going to make a more efficient file structure in my pictures and skip using the organizer all together. Thanks for the help.

Bob, there are a lot of forum users that don't like the organizer.
