I take RAW pictures with my Nikon (NEF). I used to be able to open them and now I get an error message indicating that it is the wrong type of file.
I used to open them all the time. I have since reformatted. I am not sure if that is part of the problem.
Can anyone help? Is it a download or update I am missing?

Hi! There is an update to Adobe Camera Raw that will probably help. Here (http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=3592) is the link. It is for PSE 4 and 5. There is also a read me file that walks you through the process. The interface changes a little with the 3.7 update, so you might want to use the 3.6 update which is here (http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=3558)
I hope this helps!

I guess we'll need a bit more info - which camera, which version of PSE and which version of the Adobe Camera Raw plug-in do you have (to get that click on Help>About Plug-in>Camera Raw and it will show you the version)

I've come across folks who have had this problem that conclude there is some interaction between Nikon's own S/W and Elements.
Do you have the Nikon S/W installed? If so you may want to try un-installing it and seeing if Elements then works.

Nikon D200; PSE 4; Camera Raw plug in 3.2

I believe support for the D200 didn't come in until version 3.3. The latest ACR is now 3.7 so if you still have 3.2 you need to update.

If you "reformatted" then you definely lost the plugin. Just download the latest plugin and it should work fine.
