View Full Version : Can I Delete the 5.0 Organizer?

I use and prefer Picasa2 and want to remove as much of the nuisance of the 5.0 Organizer which is constantly asking me if I want to save to it. Rather than uncheck the box each time I just let it go.
Also, it is no doubt needlessly using up my HD space.
If I can't delete it, how close can I get?
Thanks,
Dave

I don't think you can uninstall the Organizer, and just deleting files unless you are absolutely sure of what you are deleting is not a good idea. However, there are some workarounds you can use to not have to see the Organizer if you don't want to.
Open the Organizer first and there are 2 things you need to do here. First, is go to File -> Watch Folders from the main menu and uncheck the box that says "Watch Folders, etc". This will stop Elements from constantly checking for new pictures, and save you processor time.
Then go to Window -> Welcome, again from the Organizer menu and in the screen that opens at the bottom left is a drop down that allows you to tell the program what to open when you click its icon. You can set that to Editor. Now when you open Elements it will go straight to the Editor. You will never have to see the Organizer again, if you don't want to.
To get the pictures to open up in Editor from Picassa will take a bit more work. This will involve going into Windows Explorer, right click the file types you work with with (jpeg, bmp, tiff, your camera's raw format if you use it) and then choose Open With -> Choose Program. Select Photoshop Elements and then at the bottom of that box is a check box "Always Use the Selected Program". You can check that box. Now when you right click your picture within the Picassa viewer and select Open File, it will open in the Elements Editor.

Kathy, I did a C&P on the delete instructions and will start on them asap.
