View Full Version : Does Anyone Remember?

Several months ago, someone posted a link showing the digital makeup process of a model. It seems the target audience of the page was younger girls, explaining the unrealistic nature of the media's version of beauty.

Does anyone remember that, and if so, do you recall the link?

Thanks,
Mike

Maybe. It wasn't just the video, but an interactive site. You could mouse-over various parts of the model and it offered an explanation of what was done to brighten, sharpen, reduce, enchance, etc.

Was that the Dove site?

I think it was the Dove site. I remember showing it too my daughter.

Pat

Thanks for that. She has a project or somethng for school, and we were talking about that video (I think) just the other day.
I told her someone had posted a video link a month or so ago, and I would ask, when she got around to doing it. I'll bookmark it.:D

Mike,
The link originated with the Dove site, yes.

Seems to me there were two Dove clips but I can't remember the 2nd, nor can I find anything like that on the Dove site today. I know I sent them to my daughter for my granddaughter to view but have since cleaned things out of my computer - I'll keep looking.

There was a similar, lengthy Photoshop makeover on an older lady - not interactive though. It's here: http://www.glumbert.com/media/makeover

I know which one you're talking about because I posted it a second time from an original post by Grant. I'll find it for you.

Another good one.. maybe I should just bookmark this thread.:)

Mike
I know the one you are referring to, as my daughter did one for her media class of her. The teacher was somewhat lost for words. She said he kept saying things like.. "but you .. you're not .. how did???":D

I'll see if she still has the site bookmarked

I lied - it was Linda that gave us the link originally. Here is it but the link no longer works.

Ah, that was the thread. Thanks, Nancy. And DARN!!!!!

My mom is a middle-school counselor, and the issue came up. That would have been perfect.

Oh well...back to Google...

You are one organized dude, Gary...

BTW, I'm about half-way there to the D80. That invite yourself over trick is working! They do look at me strange when I stick my hand in the couch, though...:D

Mike.

Has this been ruled out, yet?

http://www.campaignforrealbeauty.com/

There is a link to "watch the film" in the lower portion of the page, just under the "split-faced" model with the title "Evolution Film".

Thanks, Byron. That looks like the source for the youtube link that Pat posted earlier.

I appreciate you finding the original! That will work well.

I'm glad you brought this up- I was just telling a friend about this, because her daughter is at the age when she's seeing all these girls in magazines and wanting to look like them. I'm off to send the link.

Ha! :D Here I come, way too late again! Yes, I posted that some time ago, but since the original link is no longer working I wouldn't have been any help this time around. Thanks Gary for finding the new link!

Glad to help Mike, I still have to show the girl for her project.

Also glad you are getting there with the D80.

Now.. can't you shake any of those kids you teach down for some cash.
It is funny how much a 60 can look like a 70 with a few dollars put in front of it.
say no more..nudge, nudge, wink, wink.:D :D

At that rate you would have the D80 just after midterms.

Just kidding ... keep couch diving, and don't eat the stuf you find between the cushions.
