View Full Version : "Unknown error" in Premiere Elements 2

I have twice tried to burn a large file with running time of 1hour 30 mins and it proceeds to about 70% and then shows an error message
"Unknown error 130932483" and freezes. Has anyone seen this before and can advise me? Is it likely the file is just too big and I should divide it in two and burn two disks?
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Here are some things to check out:

The above says Premiere Elements 3.0, but it will probably give you good leads for Premiere Elements 2.0 as well.
Have you read Kenny’s post, a few Threads down in this Forum?

I know it is an oversimplification….but defragmentation, getting rid of some programs running in background, being alert to possible Stop Marker hang-ups, do work wonders at times.
There is a link in Kenny’s Thread for dividing project into VOBs and then combining (if it comes to that). Just some ideas.

(I have not run into that specific "Unknown Error 130932483" message, but I will check around to see if I find anything. Most times, trying to associate those codes/errors with the corrective action is like looking for a needle in a haystack.)

Thanks for the suggestions which are very helpful. I have divided my project into two 45 minute ones anyway, and will report how I get on with burning them. Watching 90 minutes in one go was probably a bit much even if it had worked.

Hello there;
I have experience something similar on very rare ocassions and what I do just to make sure that I least I don't have to process the file again is to "burn" the proyect to a file and then use any other software to burn the file to a DVD.

Taking on board all the advice offered, I did clear out some redundant files on my disks plus defragmented them, even deleted the Elements program and reloaded it, all to no avail, the same error recurred. Then another idea came to me and I tried burning to another brand of DVD and it worked!
This does not explain why I managed to burn successfully only a few days ago to the brand that now fails every time I try it.

The occasional bad disk does make its way into the stack. But I have also found when I am burning larger projects that I have more success burning it to the hard drive first, then to the disk. And sometimes not using the max burning speed of the drive/disk helps.

Success sounds so good. Congratulations. But, curious about what seems to have worked for you.
Were you using DVD-R discs? If so, are you still, but just with a different brand? Any disc speed changes from before/after? From day 1, use of DVD-R disc with Premiere Elements 2.0 has been tricky for me when other disc types presented no problems (independant of the brand).
Any chance you added/changed/updated something in computer system recently that may have impacted on the properties of the burner drive? I had a Mylanta moment time recently until I discovered that an update of a popular program really messed up my DVD drive and the associated burn software. Rolling back to the previous version of my update solved that one for me. I am still not sure of all of the hows and whys of that episode.
Continued success.
