Hi

Can anyone explain why a 2.62gb project freezes at burn stage, but reducing the filesize down to the lowest it works no problem... more details below

This is driving me insane, is there a kind sould that could try and help me here

43 min video project, encodes fine, compiles fine then freezes on burn stage.

Now i have tried everything right down to rebuilding my pc last night.

using a blank 4.7gb dvd, it freezes on burn if left to 2.62 gb @ 8 Mbps, but when you adjust the file quality to the lowest (582mb @ 1.69 Mbps), it burns fine, just tried again there not swapping the disc and it burnt at the lowest quality.

AAARGRGRGHGH

I was running a few video programs such as majix, serif and pin studio 10, so by wiping my pc last night all i have installed at the moment is photoshop cs9, photoshop elements 4 and prem elements 2, i have tried all sorts 2 pcs, no joy, using an external burners, usiung an external hard drive, proving that my pc is not to blame.

Hi,
Have you visited this site? They have a lot of technical helpers there.

The suggestion to visit Adobe Premiere Elements User to User Forum is a good one. You may be overwhelmed by the wealth of information there, so the following is a starter:

I am not sure what was involved in your makeover of your PC to resolve your problems, but here is some reading material that I hope will get things going in the right direction.

http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx/.3bbf8a18

It is a classic type article. Also be sure to click on the links within this link for even more valuable information, especially the one about large project alternatives.

A lot of time the magic words are defragmentation, alert for Stop Marker related burn problems, making sure your Virtual Memory and PC are optimized (shutdown programs running in the background, etc.)....

Have you tried burn to folder and then burning the folder to DVD with program other than the one in Premiere Elements? You say it is a large project and your problems resolve by cutting down the project. So, see if the breaking down of your project into VOBs helps. But I am getting ahead of myself. I suggest that you check out the link cited above and then plan your strategy.

Good luck and please report back.

Did you say what version of Premiere Elements you are using?

Is the following your post at the Adobe Premiere Elements User to User Forum? If it is not, you may want to check this out.

I did see where you said you were using Premiere Elements 2.0.

Get Nero 7.0 and your problems are solved. I don't even capture with adobe elements 3.0 anymore. I only use elements for the editing portion of my pojects. It is not reliable for capturing and burning. I have a 4.0 gb ram system (newer model) with no other programs running and still have the problems with cature and burn. Nero works great and much faster too.
