Found this tut and I think I will give it a go. If she comes out nice I can always save her as a PNG file. :D :D I would love to see what other come up with.

I am having a dickens of a time with this fairy. Wanted to post where I am so far. :o color, burn, dodge, burn some more... Someone tell me to keep going! And no she doesn't look like the one in the tut. I still have a long way to go.
I guess I have to finish, or the fairy wins. :p
Warning don't look if you will be offended. She has boobies.

Kimi, looks good so far, can't wait to check it out when I get my laptop away from hubby and son. I had to install a new network adapter on hubby's laptop so they took mine while I was at work to do homework. All they needed was Microsoft Word and to silly to realize the computer would work without the adapter.:D

You know... I understand we do all of this as part of the learning process. But when I look at her, all I want to do is laugh.
Tomorrow, I will rework her face (horrible, horrible face) and do the wings. What will I ever do with her? She has boobies for heavens sake!!
Maybe I could hide her in some ivy... strategically placed!
my latest version. :o

Slightly OT but I was fascinated by the article on the Cottingley Fairies (and other fakes) in a recent issue of Photoshop Creative. Faked in 1917 but only admitted to being faked in 1983 - and interestingly the original photo fakes got retouched in 1920 when they were published in Strand magazine. And all this long before Photoshop let you fake your own fairies at the bottom of your garden :D . You can read more at:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cottingley_Fairies and see the actual originals at:
http://www.ash-tree.bc.ca/acdsfairies.htm
Compare the originals with what is being published now as the "original" and you'll see what I mean:

I started working on this last night when my family was at a Phoenix Suns game and I could play totally guilt free!! I had to fudge a lot of the steps because I wasn't sure of some of the instructions. It took me 2.5 hours and I only have her body with the dodge and burn places sort of roughed in. She is not suitable for posting yet but I'm going to play with her in a little while.
Once again Kimi - thanks for the fun project. Andie

Kimi - Where are the spatter brushes (for the hair - step 13) located.Do you have any? I don't seem to have such a thing and couldn't find any to download? Thanks -- Andie

Well - this stinks!! I finished my fairy and put her in a nice background with a pretty frame . I saved her and then went to post her and my hard drive crashed so----she's gone - boohooooooo. Andie

Oh Andie... that is horrible!
I used the Nigel hair brushes. I don't have the link but I am sure they would show up in a goggle search.
I forgot about mine. maybe I will at least like the wings.
