I was trying to start form scratch and do an image in PE that was totally original and created from a blank page. Well this is what i came up with ... many layers later and trying many blending mode changes , new brushes, and some learned techniques.. it's pure fantasy .. but I had fun .. what do you think?

the lightning bolt shape in the wall was problematic for me. I was trying for a cracked look but had a hard time getting the shading right ... any suggestions?

Ah John, well on you way to fantasy land...;)

Looks good-if the lightening is on it's on layer try crackling it and maybe changing the blending mode to multiply-just to see what happens...

Also, how about placing your pink beam going over the hunk of missing wall? It could look like whatever is at the end of it crashed through it?

And yes, you can get extremely addicted to it-PSE is like being in a sandbox with every toy ever invented in it!

Carol I took your suggestions and moved the colored streak above hole in the wall...the lightning bolt was on it's own layer I duplicated it selected that layer (ctrl click on the layer) ... filled it with black, applied a bevel and changed the opacity ... and you see the results. I "stole" the moon from Kim's creative challenge for the week ... did a little filtering, added a glow around the moon with a gaussian blur ... well I did a lot more too... notice the glow coming from behind the wall?

quillabee I highly recommend just letting your imagination take over and see where it goes

vesta I used upwards of 30 layers, some of them were merged, the final image has 27 layers

thanks again. take a peek at the final product.(well final for now!)
