Hi
I've got a picture with a boring plain-white-cloud-sky that I want to replace with a nice blue sunny one.
Should be easy, but I'm stuck on trying to select/erase the old sky around the branches of some trees. This is PSE4.
I really need a colour selection tool but PSE4 doesn't have one. Any suggestions on how to get around this.
Thanks in advance
Sam

Try unchecking contiguous with the magic wand tool, then use it to select sky. Fine tune with small selection brush.

Sam, it might help if you posted the picture. Butch (Daviskw...???? I think) has a great video tutorial about removing the sky.
Off the top of my head I would say, make a selection of the sky using the lasso tool and delete it and slide the new one underneath. Now if you have lots of sky showing through the trees, I think you could use the magic wand to add to the selection, but I am not sure.........is WENDY around......???? She will know, her or Butch, but I think he is usually on in the evenings....not sure though.

HERE (http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...887&pr=goog-sl) is a link to Butch's video on replacing sky - the video itself isn't the clearest but with the audio it is easy to follow and a brilliant video.
You may also want to take a look at THIS THREAD (http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12516&highlight=replacing) on selecting sky through trees. Once again it is Butch who shows what to do!

Wow you guys are so quick at answering....
I'll give these ideas a whirl over the weekend and see how I get on.
Cheers for the pointers.
