HI Thanks for taking a peek at my question. If I had two computers one had Elements 3.0 and the other had Premiere Pro 2.0, Would I be doing the same type of work (tools, metheds, Timeline work) to make my movie? In other words, Is using Premiere Pro very much the same as using Elements?
Does it pay to really spend the difference for doing basic work in Premiere? I know about some of the new things in P Pro, but for basic editing, Is there much difference between the two? thanks Roger

Here is a sampling of reading material to check out:

Whether it be Photoshop Elements vs Photoshop or Premiere Elements vs Premiere Pro 2.0, the answer resides somewhere between cost and need. Since Premiere Elements is the less expensive way to go, have you ever considered downloading a tryout version from Adobe to see if it meets your basic editing needs?

Bottom line: I have no experience with Pro 2.0, and I suspect that many at this forum have not as well. I could be wrong on that. But, this is what I suggest:

If you are having trouble deciding between the two,

(1) Go the tryout route.
(2) Take a look at the problems/solutions in the Premiere Elements User to User Forum as well as the Premiere Pro 2.0 User to User Forum at http://www.adobe.com. Maybe post your question there also.
(3) Go directly to Adobe Marketing. They should be able to give you the ultimate answer for a side by side comparison of the two products.

I actually downloaded the Pro version and then could not get it to work on my computer. So, was not able to make the comparision I wanted to. The main reason I asked the orginal question is that I may get Premiere Pro for my iMac 24. I use and love Elements 3.0 on my PC. I have Finale Cut Express (which I do not like) and hope to change when P PRO finally comes out for Mac. I believe it comes out in June 07. Roger :)

As of this coming summer, Premiere Pro will be available for Mac. I for one, am very happy about that. :)

I have Premiere Pro 1.5 and Elements 3.0 and the answer is YES for BASIC editing both are the same. Pro does have more features that I never use. However my copy of elements will not capture video so use pro for that purpose. I understand that some users of Elements 3.0 do have the capture feature. You might check this further but cant say where. Hoped this forum could help in that regard but so far no luck.

I am surprised you didn't hear about Pro coming out for Mac. It has been on the Adobe site for several weeks. I also read about it in Creative Cow. That is the reason I was asking about Elements/Pro timeline use. I have to get Pro if I am going to use Premiere with my Mac as I doubt Elements will also come out for Mac. Roger :)
