I put the following picture in my gallery:
http://www.pixentral.com/hosted/1iguuOMcLqUGZfObkW07OYI76WY0_thumb.jpg (http://www.pixentral.com/show.php?picture=1iguuOMcLqUGZfObkW07OYI76WY0)
My daughter loves it but wanted me to accentuate the middle picture somehow. Her suggestion was to make some of the pictures sepia, which I did:
http://www.pixentral.com/hosted/1seHIKLHN5YOW4QWxyn0yqUJj7b3T0_thumb.jpg (http://www.pixentral.com/show.php?picture=1seHIKLHN5YOW4QWxyn0yqUJj7b3T0)
I also did one with a simple stroke around the middle image:

My question is which one do you prefer or have you any other suggestions as to how to make the middle photo stand out?

Have you considered doing the middle picture in color - maybe lower the saturation. I like what you have done.

Bayla,
That is a beautiful collection of photos. The innocence of the baby's different moods is striking. I like the one with the frame better than the sepia. I think sepia reminds me of "older" photos, and to me, that doesn't seem to fit here.
If you wanted to try something else ... not that this needs any improvement, mind you ... you might try making the frame around the center photo a soft color. Just enough to draw the eye.
Great job!!

I think it is adorable. But I would do as Will suggested with the center photo, adding some color there.

Bayla it looks great as is but Will's suggestion is a good one too. You could also change the shape of the center square to a heart or other shape with a soft color outline stroke.

Lots of good ideas offered here . . . but I really like the original one, all b&w. It's really sweet!

Thanks for all your comments and encouragement.
Linda, I also prefer the original which is why I put it in my gallery:) It was just my daughter who wanted to somehow to make the middle picture stand out.
Will, I thought about doing that - I'll try it out this evening and see how it looks.
I'll give the coloured stroke a try as well & leave it up to her to decide. For myself I'm printing out the original:)

Hi Bayla ..
I really like the original too ... although I did wonder what it would look like with a white stripe around each one of the images :)

Wendy, Now that is a great idea. Do that too Bayla and let us see.
I mean as long as we are playing opinions.
I'm doing one for a friend and the big picture really doesn't go with the little pics in the filmstrip, but...it is what she wants used. so, I'
m doing it!

First, I like it!
Three ideas to try?
Have you tried the "digital photographer" download filters? I like that because I can quickly scroll through and see with one I like. Just select the middle pic...I like the selection that gives a very slight rose hue.
With a girl, I thought for the middle pic, you might try coloring just the blanket pink, or just coloring the eyes for that shot?
I like all squares for this LO myself. Great job.

Hi Bayla ...
I really like that ... now if you added a little more canvas at the bottom you would be able to add a caption in white :)

Bayla,
I have enjoyed your work on your Gallery postings but I am missing something. I see only one composite image (which is wonderful) in your gallery but no variations. Do you have the other versions posted elsewhere?

Bayla, I'm having a difficult time deciding. I do like the one with the stroke around it. Maybe try putting color on the center one.

No they are not showing up. Not sure what I have set wrong. Using Firefox 2.0.0.1. Down below it says I have vB code "ON," Smiles "ON," IMG Code "ON," and HTML code is "OFF." Not sure if any of this helps you give me some hints.

OK. Positively the last ones now (I promise!)
Firstly Will's idea (which I like):
http://www.pixentral.com/hosted/1iSRjSO9wDvitxFGIbEegf07s7PsA1_thumb.jpg (http://www.pixentral.com/show.php?picture=1iSRjSO9wDvitxFGIbEegf07s7PsA1)
Then two takes on the pastel coloured border (I chose blue as he is a boy) I like these as well:
http://www.pixentral.com/hosted/10lkp14DYjPaAG4KHGuBdzmNNciCh_thumb.jpg (http://www.pixentral.com/show.php?picture=10lkp14DYjPaAG4KHGuBdzmNNciCh)

I've had great fun with these and have really benefited from lots of different tutorials - I used subscriber videos to learn how to do B&W and Dave's recent video on sharpening using the high pass+ changing the blend mode method which I really like. To do the picture in a heart I used Corey's Creative Techniques video (Day 9) on clipping groups.
Thank you all for your input. I'm off now to email the last three versions to my daughter. Wonder which one she'll pick (probably the one I don't like - the sepia one - lol!)

I think that I like the all black and white one with the stroke outlines the best. The pictures are wonderful pictures. Isn't it fun to have such adorable subjects to take pics of?

Anyone got a coin to toss? They are all very nicecly done Bayla. Although my thought for the heart in the center wasn't such a good one. It hides too much of the adorable face IMO.
Do let us know which one your daughter picks. Either way is a winner.
