Hi, I am a new user of Photoshop 5 (but have used vers 3 for some time). I would like to use some recent photos I took as wallpaper, but they are too large (stretched out or only show a portion of the photo). I figured if I asked Photoshop to create the wallpaper the program would size it correctly. The "help" says that you simply select the photo and then go to edit> set as desktop wallpaper, but I don't see this as a choice under edit. I looked at vers 3, which is still on my other computer, and don't see the choice there either.
Can anyone help?

That is a function of the Organizer. You still may have to size and crop the image to the right aspect ratio to make it fit properly.

Go to MY computer and navigate to where you have the file then click on it you should get - picture tasks - scroll down to set as desktop, then when it is set as wallpaper right click<properties<destop tab<position<centre< apply<ok

It is a lot easier to do it than to explain it but hope this helps!!

Thanks for both responses. I know how to set the wallpaper through the conventional My Computer, etc method you describe. The problem is that my photos were taken at high resolution and the file is too big to be displayed properly using the conventional method. I thought that setting the wallpaper through PSE would automatically adjust the size to display correctly without me having to resize the image, guess at the size, save as a new file, etc--but I couldn't find the PSE menu item to set the wallpaper. I don't normally use the Organizer (I use Canon's Zoombrowser software to download and organize my photos), but will give it a try.

What size is the resolution of your monitor? Just edit your picture and resize it to the resolution size, 1600, 1280 or 1024. Then select your wallpaper as you normally would and select center because you don't want it tiled or stretched.

I may be doing it the wrong way myself but what I do is when I save the image i save for web with a smaller size and resolution. I also save it to a different area than the original file.. Makes it easier to find for wallpaper.

Here is another way to make wallpaper if you do not use Organizer.
Open the pic you want to use
Select crop tool and put in your pixel sizes in the tool bar above photo well (1024 x 768 etc)
Put in screen resolution 96 (100)
apply crop tool and it will crop to the screen size you chose
Accept and then do Save As and you have wallpaper image that you can apply through My Computer method.
