I copied styles from the cd that came with photoshop Elements 4 one -on-one by Deke McClelland To Photoshop Elements 5 in the following location:

C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 5.0\Presets\Styles

When I open the folder I can see the added styles are there,but when I use Photoshop Elements 5 and i go to the styles and effect palette they aren't listed. I was told they would work in pse5. Since I kept pse4 in my computer,I tried to put the styles in pse4 and had the same problem. Please help!

Put the styles in a folder first and then name the folder and dump it here;

(By default Windows has these folders hidden. To locate folders you must have them visible. To do this go to >My Computer/Tools/Folder Options/View and check the show hidden files and folders box.)

C;Documents and Settings
All Users
Application Data
Adobe
Photoshop Elements
5.0
Photo Creations
Special Effects>drop folder here along with others ( filters, styles etc...)

then restart elements and look for them in the artwork and effects palette along with other styles, filters etc....( left drop down menu)

If content doesn't show up shut down Elements and restart...hold down shift key immediatly after launching editor..keep holding it down til progress window of ' building artwork and effects ' finishes. Grab a snack prior

That really helped, but I didn't all the sets of styles in the folder in the styles and effects palette. Maybe I should put each effect in a folder with its own name then put them into the special effects folder?

yes, that really is a better way to do it...I should have been more specific.

You were of more assistance than the tech person at the publisher of one on one pse4 by Deke McClelland.
Much Appreciated.
