I have been a subscriber for quite some time, but have only read the messages and not posted before. Just a shy lurker, I guess.:D But, it is unbelievable how much I have learned from all of you. There is still a long way to go and I am forever reading and trying new things.

I now have a question. I use PE3 now and also have PE2 installed. In PE3, I was designing a birthday card and wanted to use custom shapes - frames in my creation. However, when I click on frames, I get the message "Could not load custom shapes because the file is not compatible with this version of Photoshop". I can still use frames if I click custom shapes - all Elements shapes, so it is no big deal, and all the other shape categories work, but I like everything to work as it should.

I reset my preferences as I have seen suggested for other problems, but it made no difference. By the way, when I tried PE2, it works just fine.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Joan

Hi Joan and welcome. So glad you decide to join in the fun from your shy lurking. Unfortunately I cannot answer your question as I still haven't mastered using custom shapes as frames yet. I do recall a similar problem posted at one time so be patient as someone more experienced will be along soon. I just wanted to welcome you. Hope to see some of your work soon.

Hi Joan ...

... and so pleased that you are no longer a lurker :)
Shapes File may have become corrupt ... so go to your Elements 3 Presets>Custom Shapes and remove the Frames.csh.

(just put it in another folder somewhere else on your computer)

Next go into PSE2 and copy your Frames.csh then paste it into PSE3 Presets>Custom Shapes.

I just tried it on my PSE3 and it worked just fine :)

Once its working OK and you have the frames.csh in both PSE2 & PSE3 then you can trash the corrupt one :)

Thanks everyone for the wonderful welcome.:D

Thank you especially, Wendy, for your instructions. I had been tempted to do just that, but wasn't sure if the file had the same types of frames or if there were more in PE3 than in PE2.

It is working just fine now, and I will go ahead and finish designing my card.

Hi Joan ...

So glad that you have it working now ... they didn't change those custom shapes between PSE2 & PSE3 so its safe to use the PSE2 one :)

Welcome, Joan! :)

You'll be glad that you decided to post--I, too, was a lurker for several months before my first post. I'm always impressed by the friendliness of everyone on this forum.:)
