Just when I was finally making progress editing with PSE4 I've come unstuck again !! I edited a lot of pictures ( some RAW and some jpegs). After editing each one, I placed the original in the favourites bin. ( I find this the quickest way of deleting lots of pics....I just open favourties at the end and delete the lot). At the end of the session, all the edited versions were now in the catalogue, so I deleted the originals. But next time I opened PSE4 I found that all the " deleted " pics were back in the organiser as "question mark files " and they are also still in 'favourites ' in the same format. Any attempt to delete them gets the error message " [Microsoft][ODBCMicrosoft Access Drive]invalid argument ". I have tried deleting a jpeg that I haven't touched recently both directly from the catolgue and also after tagging it for the 5Star bin and attempting deletion from there...but neither of those deletions work either. Any ideas ??

John.

P.S.I sent you the backup file for my previous problem ,Ward, but it was pretty big so I guess it got stuck somewhere in the system.

John-Normally a File>Catalog>Recover helps straighten out most Organizer problems. If you have not done so already, you can try this.

Could you re-explain your steps with "After editing each one, I placed the original in the favourites bin." I'm a little hazy on what you mean-are you assigning a Favorties Tag or do you have a Folder called Favourites? (Or is there a bin option I do not use).

Also, how are you deleting the files-inside/outside of Organizer? If you do a delete from Organizer, you should get a popup asking if you want to delete from hard drive. Answering yes will physically remove the file from the PC.

Ward,

You're a star !! It worked perfectly. I shall have File;Catalog;Recover on my headstone. ! Just for your interest, I am using the Favourites tag for pics I want to delete, then I can delete them all at the end of the session in one go. And I was trying to delete them from inside the programme, by using "select all; delete; delete from hard drive ".

Once again, many thanks...until the next time !!

John.
