We have had to change monitors and now have a LCD monitor instead of my beloved CRT. Color management used to be easy...great pics on monitor and in print. Now everything is a disaster and getting worse as I try to fix things.

I purchase Spider2 Suite because I was told it would make monitor and printer calebration easier....They lied and it's going back tommorrow.

Besides getting crappy prints of my pics even tho the target print prints out really nice the pictures look very different between when viewed in the editor or organizer.
Pre LCD they always looked the same....I also didn't have to calibrate the monitor it showed stuff off nice so left as is. Also...

I made a valentines card for a friend and the image I used happen to print as it looked on the monitor OK but the surrounding border I made in the editor printed horribly and looked pink and not the red on the warmer side that I had selected.

HELP..................please someone help me!!!!!

Many Thanks,

Cindy....

What settings do you have under Edit > Colour Settings?

Are you creating images from scratch - i.e a New Blank Document? If so what colour space / profile is your image in?

If you're pasting in images what colour space/profile are they?

Did you use the Adobe Gamma Wizard before when you had your CRT?

Now you're using the Spyder have you stopped the Adobe Gamma Loader from running when you boot up your machine?

Always Optimize for printing.

Color space is Adobe RGB

If you're pasting in images what colour space/profile are they?
Also Adobe RGB

No I did not profile my CRT....

Not even sure where to go for the Gamma Loader....I have never used it. The spider software comes up when I start saying it's profile I did is loaded. Not very happy w/ the profile process ....don't think I am getting the best colors from it...but I don't know what else to use and even w/ a crappy monitor profile the colors shouldn't change between editor and organizer right.

Thanks fo your help, Cindy

Cindy, Colin,

A related topic in this discussion: http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7772

I find Ray's statement that Album was only partially color managed quite interesting. Maybe that is still the case with Organizer? That would explain different colors between it and the Editor...

Elements Organiser is Colour Managed so there shouldn't be any difference between what you see in the Organiser compared with the Editor.

I supposed the obvious but not necessarily correct assumption would be to think there's some issue with the Monitor Profile that the Spyder has created. Since this is the last thing to have occured.

What you can try doing is to turn off Colour Management and see if the two programs now show the same colours ( might not be right but at least consistent).

You could then turn on Colour Management but disable the Spyder created profile from being loaded. See if the results are the same.

If the results of the above indicate good consistency then I would try re-creating the monitor profile again.

Colin: I don't know if this is connected to the problem but in the PSE5 readme file that came with it it does say:

Color Settings: If you turn Color Management settings on or off, you should re-create pre-existing photo thumbnails in your Photo Browser. To re-create thumbnails, select the images in the Photo Browser, Select Edit > Update thumbnail (Control+Shift+U)

That would suggest that the Organizer imbeds some color management info in the thumbnails which could effect the way the images appear if you start changing colour settings around.

Hi Tony....

I only have V4 but the results are instantaneous in the Organiser if the thumbnail has to be redrawn. AdobeRGB images go flat when CM is turned off. So, I think you're right in that even the thumbnails have some profile info in them but this doesn't kick in until the thumbnail is re-rendered.

Cindy....

Where in the Oganiser are you viewing the images? In the Photo Well or Full Screen?

Based on what Tony is saying have you tried updating your thumbnails.
