I don't think it's quite as bad as it sounds. Here's another version:

Thanks Tony,
I have neither Windows Vista or a Nikon camera, but thought I would give a 'Heads-Up' to the people here on this forum.

I don't think I'll upgrade for a while either. Dell will supply me with a free upgrade to Vista but warns that I may lose some functionality. I know that Vista won't support my creative lab x-fi sound card as Dell only offers basic sound support on one of their flagship desktops (XPS 410) now that it comes with Vista. For us XP media addition users I think it's "Hasta La Vista" for now anyways

Since I'm not familiar with Vista, can we just not use their photo tool? I don't have Vista yet but my husband is getting it when he gets his new Dell this year. I have a Canon so it probably isn't a problem (unless one comes up in the future).

Hi Norma
The second link that Charles posted took you too the actual forum postings at retouchpro.
Farther down in that thread it was mentioned that as long as you don't use some of the software that comes with vista then all should be fine.

Oops, I didn't read farther down on that one! But I figured it would just involve not using it! Glad to know for sure. Thanks Gary.

In fact the photo tool they're talking about does work in Windows XP so you don't need Vista to run it. You can get it here (I don't have it and probably won't bother and if you do get it use at your own risk :) )

There is a similar warning on the nikondigital.org web site. It seems that Vista eats metadata. Not a good thing for digital photographers.
