Hello,

I'm a new user with Elements 5 and I'm trying to get use to the photo downloader.

I have a dual monitor setup. After inserting a photo card, the downloader pops up, but the window is split equally between the two monitors. I can move the window to a one of the monitors, but the window's location is never saved. So every time I download pictures I have to reposition the downloader window. Can the window position be saved?

Thanks.
Dave

Here's something you can try, but it doesn't always work. I have a couple of programs that it won't work on, but it does on others. This also assumes you are using Windows.

Open the downloader as normal, but then close it. As you close it try holding down the ALT key, and if that doesn't do it, try it holding down down the CTRL key. Close it by clicking the X up in the top right corner while holding down one of the keys.

As I said, it doesn't work with every program, but sometimes does the trick. :D

Thanks genevh, but neither solution worked.

Anyone?

Thought I would bump this up for another look. There must be others that use Elements in a dual monitor configuration. Thanks again.

Hi David ...

There are a few people who use dual monitors but not that many ... hopefully one of them will spot the thread :)

I submitted this question to Adobe technical support. They agreed this is the way the photo downloader works with dual monitors. Per Adobe: "APD is a companion technology for Photoshop Elements, and it does not have the option to save its window position".

Very disappointing. I use many programs with dual monitors and I've never encountered one that wasn't dual monitor friendly. I submitted this to Adobe as a feature request. Maybe I just need to use a different downloader.
