OK here's the deal I started a new creation, and I want to drag a pic over to it and I used the Marquee tool...ok I have dragged my picture to it no problem BUT the picture that I dragged over comes over in Black and White but it's a colored picture...

Any answers on WHY it's coming over in Black & White??
I've never had that happen before, but it's the first time I have used the Marquee tool to move a pic....

Please help....I want to go from :( to :D

Make sure - when you opened the new creation - you didn't have it set as "grey"

At the top of the project - it will say whether it's grayscale or rgb

new> blank file>

or with the keyboard "control n"

on the screen that comes up - where you choose your project size - there is a box labeled "color mode" - make sure it's not "grayscale" - choose RGB.

You can also set your "resolution" - if you want to print your project 300 is a good choice

In "background contents" - I prefer transparent - because I often do projects with open spaces I do not want anything in.

To move a photo onto your project, you can use the move tool. If you have trouble moving it - I sometimes resort to making a copy of the photo - layer>duplicate - instead of trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong - and then I move the copy of the photo onto my new project.

Aww Yep you were right it was set in Grey scale..
No sure how it got there since I haven't used that feature yet...zzzzzz I bet I was sleep typing again. heh heh (hate when that happens)

Yes I do use 300 resolution, question ( while I have you hear) if I wanted to have a creation made into a picture whether it be a 5x7 or 8x10 or even a 11x14 I'm not sure what size to make it...Do I use it for the settings of the 5x7 or 8x10.... I do want to use more than one image. I just want to be able to view them with no problems or have the photo lab cut off some of my work.

Can you explain to me how to use one of my own pictures as a background, that I have not been able to figure out. Do I use the Marquee tool then drag it over?

Thanks so much for helping me out...Im back to :D again...

Jorjia: Here's one way to use one of your own pictures as a background. Open the image you want to use as a background. Then open the image you want to place on the background. From the Select menu, pick "All". Then click on the move tool and drag the image to your background. Then you can resize and play with opacity, etc... I like the images in your gallery, especially the lighthouse...

Don't exactly know what you are asking.

I print everything at home, so I don't run into issues in getting things set up for outside printing.

I set everything I do at a resolution of 300 - because when creating montages, having resolution the same is important.

I do a "lame" go around for making sure I don't lose the edges while printing -

I create - save the project while all the layers are still open - then for printing I merge all my layers and pull the merged project in 1/8 inch.

I don't print borderless - because borderless is not important to me.

I pull the project in 1/8 inch because I'm so sick and tired of my Epson saying "8x10 won't fit" when I choose 8x10 as my project/canvas size and 8x10 as my print size and my Epson prints borderless. DUH?

I have no idea why I can't have an 8x10 when I ask for an 8x10 - but I don't have the patience to find out the correct way of doing this - so I pull the project in 1/8 inch - ignore when Epson says it won't fit - and print.

Why Thank you....I'm trying.. I've seen some Gallery's that just blow me away so when someone says they like mine I'm honored.

Well when you create their are all of those different options I just want to make sure I'm choosing the correct one.

Yes I have been doing them in 300 res. I used to print mine out at home, but yeash the cost in ink. I found a great place on the net that will make a 4x6 for 8 cents and their quality is fantastic..shipping is also cheap.

My last order I had well over 30 prints I had like 24 5x7's made and some 2 8x10's and 4x6's as well and it cost me under $17.00 and they ship them right to your house. Plus you get them I would say in under a week. So I'm hooked on them....

I just had my Lake Michigan Creation made into a 11x14 so I can't wait to get it to see how it looks...(sorry to run on)

What "Is" that Canvas setting? I mean what would you use it for? I have so much to learn with the PSE5....thing is my rear end get's to looking like this chair because I can't pull myself away.

Thanks, jorjia. I liked the way that lily turned out. It was just an experimentation with the smudge tool...

JulieM,

I haven't tried using the smuge tool....for anything yet...Do you have your pic's made into pictures to hang on your walls?

Since I got my cannon OMG's I'm just nuts in making pic's for framing....and the GOOD season isn't even here yet! Heh heh...

jORJIA:

No, I haven't really framed anything except for some montages for my kids. I know a lot of members here do frame their work, so if you have questions about printing for framing, why don't you start a new thread. I'm sure you'd get plenty of advice to get you started. Have fun!
