Saving in Previous location

When I used Elements 3, I would go to full edit, edit the photo and when I tried to close or went to save, the default location for the saved file would be the same folder the original photo was in. Now in Elements 5 when I try to save, it wants to put the edited photo in My Documents. Is there a setting I need to change to have the edited photo saved in the same location as the one I loaded the original from?

Puzzling,
I just opened the PSE 5 Organizer, selected a photo that is not in a folder under the My Documents "tree" and went to Full Edit. Whether I choose Save, Save As, or Close from the File Menu, the Dialog box is positioning the folder for the save as the same folder in which the Original resides.

So it does seem that we are getting different behavior, but I can not immediately explain why.

In PSE 5, are you using the Organizer in Newest First, Oldest First or Folder Location view? What file type is your original photo file and are you saving with the same file type ? Or are you perhaps saving as a PSD file?

OK, I went back and tried it again. It remembers the location until I make a copy/duplicate of the photo. When I try to save the copy, it goes to the last location that I saved something in, not the location that the original photo came from.

interesting - I am curious

Are you making a Copy in the Editor (perhaps because it is a format that can not keep layers)?

Or are you making a duplicate in the Organizer?

I am making a copy in the editor. I will often do that if I want more than 1 version of a file. i.e. one processed in colour and one in b & w. Also, I use some of Graffi's Tools (handy actions) and they create a copy before they make any changes.
