OK, this week's theme is pretty obvious... we've got a big holiday coming up so let's take advantage of it. That's right, the theme is Chinese New Year!

If it helps you to plan your shot, February 17 is day when the year 4704 will begin. It is also known as the year of the pig. We'll toast our Chinese friends if fine fashion I'm sure.

The fine print:
Because the purpose of the weekly theme is to get us more familiar with our cameras and to sharpen our photographic skills, entries should be taken during the week of the theme.
Photoshopping is allowed.

My town isn't blessed with a distinct Chinatown (like Portland;) ) so other than a couple Chinese restaurants my photo opportunities are somewhat limited here.
Presenting my cat, Angus Chang, who is big and fat and doesn't quite fit in this basket. He makes random appearances in my gallery for I find him rather animated. We got him from a rescue group who caught him behind a restaurant called the "China Wok." There is a joke here but since it borders on a stereotype I will refrain. We were told he was feral but we think he was either lost or dumped for he was too social; we have dealt with feral cats before and he seems too tame and mellow. Anyway, we named him Angus Chang. Angus for his rather Gaelic features of red hair and light "skin," and Chang for his Asian orgins. It's the best I can do Bill.

This was tough. Thought about the pork chops in the freezer but decided on the dragon on this fabric.

Knew this one was going to be a challenge as there is not much of a distinct Chinese community locally and we have nothing Chinese around the house (well - we have lots of Made in China but that not quite the same thing :) ). So tried the pig aspect and my wife was able to dig up an old piggy bank that she's had since she was a kid and it is made of porcelain aka china. Only one but having shot three pics on the carpet from different angles I decided they might as well turn it into 3 pigs. The blending isn't perfect but three pigs is better than one :D.

This one is over 50 years old, originally made in Italy and has no plug so you'd have trouble getting money back out of it - just curious for those of you with kids around - do they still have piggy banks - or do they just have credit cards :D

I went the pig route also. This piggy bank is a fixture at a local (Thai :o ) restaurant.
